Borderlands by Gearbox - Image 1Texas-based studio Gearbox has confirmed that that they have indeed trademarked the "War Hero" IP. Superannution has reported that there are actually four titles stringed to this new IP, filed on June 18th of this year.

The four titles registered in the USTPO would be: "World War II Hero", "War Hero", "Brothers in Arms War Hero", and "Modern War Hero". CEO Randy Ptichford had this to say about their new IPs:

The news of the Gearbox Software "War Hero" related trademarks exposes a bit about our interests in the development of another original intellectual property. As people following gaming news know, Gearbox is really motivated right now to take some bold risks and do exciting new things that no one has ever seen before, such as Borderlands (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC). War Hero is something down the road for us -- it's not signed with a publishing partner yet as we haven't even talked to any potential partners about it. So we're certainly not ready to talk about it publicly at the moment.

I've met the Gearbox Team before, and they are...interesting people, to say the least. They celebrated their last Brothers in Arms release by going out for ice cream. No joke. These guys don't celebrate by, say drinking or anything. They eat ice cream. And they're all either wayyyy too skinny or wayyyy too fat.

I've seen members of the team, one of their designers is this really hot asian chick, and they have a lot of fit people on the team as well. And what's wrong with ice cream? Insomniac Games celebrates by taking their teams to play golf and tennis. I don't see what type of point you tried to make here.

Thats really got nothing to do with anything. Honestly, what they do to celebrate a game or their physical differences... don't matter at all.

Ice cream is a hella of a lot cheaper than say sending your crew on a cruise or getting them sh** faced for a week straight.
