Sledgehammer Boy - Image 1Milwaukee residents are scratching their heads at the videogame-related crime to happen in their midst - one involving two 11-year-old boys, a sledgehammer, and the Target store branch located at 8501 Brown Deer Road. Nope, no one was hurt - except for a glass case that held the store's stock of videogames, of course.

Surveillance camera footage shows the two boys breaking into the store with a sledgehammer in tow. Seemingly no older than 11 years of age each, they made a beeline to the electronics department, specifically where the videogames were kept.

Using their weapon of choice, they break open the glass case containing the store's display of videogames. They take one single videogame - it's not yet known just what game it was - and then make their leave.

Police say the boys didn't steal anything else, much to the puzzlement of customers and shop owners everywhere, as well as raising a lot of questions. How did the boys get their hand on a sledgehammer, for instance? And how did they get past the store's security? It may be a while until we know, as the suspects themselves are still at large, and those with information are asked to contact the authorities.

Certainly quite a shocking bit of news. Updates as we get them.

The article says they broke into the store with a sledehammer and then broke the glass stealing one game.

If they broke into the store, that means there wasn't anyone there beside the surveillance camera.

So no need to talk about whether someone heard or saw anything and no need to bash the security... they were happily sleeping.

The store must have retarded security people. Even though the sledgehammer is small, and can be hidden in the kid's pants, you should still be able to tell. Also, didn't anyone hear the glass breaking, and come running to see what happened? Didn't anyone notice two suspicious looking kids walk out a store? If I were in charge of security at that Target, I would have caught them.

you can take a sledgehammer from inside the store, they didn't sneak it in...the store has to sell some type of sledge hammer. And I would of brought a backpack and taken psp's ds's and games and sold em to gamestop..

Where did they get the hammer?
I bet Jack Thompson was outside and paid them to do it :p

But seriously, the media will love this one... I mean, if a kid breaks into a shop and steals the money, they'd blame it on video games all the same.
There was a story when a teenager killed another teenager... they found GTA in his room and therefore they decided that GTA was to blame... I reckon a pretty large proportion of teenage boys have a version of GTA...

their security is lame and the kids probably stole Gears of War because they're mom didn't want to buy one for them. And how do the police know that both of them were 11 y old?? They'll probably be caught tommorrow

whoa didnt the alarm go off or something??
that target really must be lazy i mean can't they even catch 2 11-year old kids? and i agree with "idiots" they are so retarded. why would steal only 1 game??? i would gotten all consoles and sell them on ebay for 200 bucks each. dumba sses

it's easier to steal i think, need a decent computer anyways, not to mention internet, and decent connection speed like dsl.. bet they had neither.. anways the real concern here is making sure those kids DONT get caught! stealing isnt wrong... it's only wrong if you get caught :3

The kid could've simply went the the tools section and picked their sledge of choice.

but how did they get in if they didn't have the sledgehammer already? they must have had it before hand. anyways, i can't believe they only took one game. they're eleven! when i was eleven, i always thought about doing something like that (but never did) and grabbing every game i could fit in my backpack. some self control they've got there.

Gotta love my neighbors making national news for stupid crap again. That's the same Target store I shop at. For reference for the people not from around here, this isn't a very good part of town. It's better than it was for a while, but still not good. Pretty high crime around here. 3/4 times when you hear about stupid crap from Milwaukee on local or national news, it's from this side of town. Friggin' rocket scientists around here, I tells ya...

Also, I'm not 11. LOL. I'm 30. And I'm not from here originally. I'm from a small town in NW Illinois.

My great neighbors making the national news for stupid shyte again. Gotta love it. I shop at that same Target store. Seems like 3/4 of the time you hear about crime from Milwaukee on local or national news, it's from the north side in or near this neighborhood.

I bet this is the same grade/middle school *****-stick that keeps breaking the fence behind my house (I live across the street from Brown Deer Middle School).

just go to the hardware apartment in walmart pick up hammer look around no one looking and make sure no one around an pick up then go to to the video game apartment and hit the glass and get the game quick unwrape the game and take out the metal . or just the cd and run out of the store lol

   Re: AoxomamoxoA - 2007-07-25
» lol you people have no idea how to steal

...or you could just buy the game, take it out to your car. Come back in with the receipt and grab the same game, take it up to the customer service desk and get a refund. Thats what a smart thief would do.

Anyways, these kids obviously didnt steal a ps3 game since there arent any. Wii, maybe. But those games are only $40 anyways. It was probably a 360 games, more than likely M rated. Theyre stupid for just taking one, they should have grabbed a copy of as many as they could get.

   Re: killjoy (Unregistered) - 2007-07-25
 » ...

This ain't your average corner store where you're probably use to shopping. I would expect the big name stores to actually scan the bar code to make sure the receipt and item matches before giving you a refund.

Then again I've never shopped at Target so I may be wrong.

The game they stole was probably rated M. They asked their parents if they could get it, but they said no. Since they were too young to buy it themselves, they decided to just steal it. In any event, it's sad to see people so young get into crime.
