Bioshock

2K games have officially announced that their upcoming Xbox 360 title Bioshock will stay loyal to Microsoft's formats, with the first person shooter heading out in 2007 as an exclusive Xbox 360 and Microsoft and Games for Windows, the new brand optimized for Windows XP and Windows Vista title. Bioshock is set to be a new breed of first person shooter with immense graphics and a survival horror-style twist. Earlier this week we reported on Microsoft's announcement that Bioshock will be an Xbox 360 exclusive at X06, but until now 2k games have remained silent.

"2K is excited to release BioShock exclusively on Xbox 360 and under the Games for Windows brand on the PC," said Christoph Hartmann, President, 2K. "BioShock is the next step in the evolution of first-person shooters and a perfect title to push the limits of Xbox 360. We expect BioShock will set a new mark in next generation gaming when it launches next year," said George Peckham, general manager, global third party publishing for the Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft. "We’re thrilled that gamers will be able to experience BioShock only as an Xbox 360 and Games for Windows title."

BioShock
takes place among the ruins of an underwater utopia, a very different setting from most first person shooters on the market today. After your plane crashes into an icy and uncharted waters Lost-style, you descended into a city called Rapture,  hidden beneath the sea. The city was constructed as an ideal society for a hand-picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, but collapsed under the weight of its own idealism. Now the city is littered with corpses, and wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors, mutated little girls scavenge the dead, and genetically modified citizens ambush you at every turn. It's up to you to kill them all!

 » Cool, although...

At first, having a 360, I wanted to post some fanatic happiness... but, on second thought, that would be quite morronic... An xbox exclusivity doesn't make me gain anything... What would be really cool would be playing against PS3 fans on HALO 3 ;-)

No need to even think of ubisoft with this one...oh, and Alan Wake too... Freaking sellouts! I'm well disapointed that a mulit-platform game has gone exclusive thanks to Microsoft's deep wallets. anybody care to recall when Sony said 1st party games will become more of a focus and everyone just spouted and *****ed at them? Well here's your example: Microsoft Game Studios can't *****ing get anything out the door worth a crap, so they gotta buy out any game that remotely resembles a success. And for anyone rolling their eyes--if they even get this far--lemme explain this. Microsoft has released how many best selling first party games on the xbox? Forza, Halo, Halo 2, Halo exansion?, Phantom Dust!, der, i don't know anymore. Anybody else know any Microsoft developed hits lemme know.

Good tactic actually, Having a next-gen studio being forced to sell half as many possible copies of their games mean they can...they can...they can create another title having half the assets? HA! That may as be called a Wii game then!

Ugh, I'm done telling it like it is.

xbox360 = More And More FPS S**t

BioShock isn't just more and more FPS S**t. This completely different to the vast amount of twitch shooters and WWII sims that have been coming out. It is much more like a first person RPG, with guns instead of enchanted swords and magic wands. It is more akin to system shock, a game which was more closely related to ultima underground than doom.

Yeah, to poster #2 that hates MS for exclusives. Dude, think about it. Every console has exclusives. You know how it sucked to for xbox owners to never get good Japanese games? Like Square RPGs or Metal Gear?

Or how Dreamcast got no love from Electronic Arts?

Each cosole makes it's deals and it just so happens that this time it's the Xbox that has the better exclusives. Sure PS3 fanboys can wait for every for a real Gran Tourismo game or the next Metal Gear Solid in 2009 or whenever but for now, MS is wiping the floor with Sony when it comes to games.
