Monumental Games - Image 1Swordfish, the developer of the upcoming 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand (Xbox 360 and PS3) title has just been purchased by UK-based Monumental Games, makers of the MMO Football Superstars. The announcement was made today by Monumental.

Says Monumental CEO Rik Alexander, "Acquiring the Swordfish business in Manchester gives us the capacity to invest ahead of the curve and to maintain our growth profile throughout next year."

Meanwhile, Swordfish boss Mike Delves will also be made part of the Monumental management team. Swordfish used to be under Vivendi's Sierra Entertainment but was later dropped when it didn't fit the new strategy of the merging of Activision and Vivendi to form Activision Blizzard. Publishing for 50 Cent has since been picked up by THQ.
