65nm for Xbox 360 ready to go - Image 1It has been said that both Microsoft and Sony are looking to utilize the 65nm graphics processing unit (GPU) to be able to reduce production costs. Focusing now on the MS side of things, fans speculated that the Elite could already be sporting this technology but after a thorough inspection of the new SKU, it was found that the 65nm core is still not in use.

Anyway, online site DigiTimes just reported that chip maker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has sent out an engineering version of the 65nm-made Xenos. The report mentioned as well that production of SKUs will begin in May and they will be available by Fall 2007.

It should be remembered that back in December 2006, it was reported that these 65nm chips will be available by mid-2007. Despite these delays, TSMC is still projecting that sales contribution from 65nm would amount to 5% during the said period.

Last March, it introduced 65nm-made embedded DRAM - one of the two dies that comprise the Xenos.

How else would he know what NOT to do when designing a console?

and yet the 360 has much better games. when will you little bitcches learn that its not who has the more powerfull console, but whos games are better! the ps3 may be a bit more powerfull than the 360 but i think the 360 is much more fun at the moment.

I am upgrading to an XBOX 360 elite when these chips are put into production. This will end the reliability issues once and for all, and the PS3 fantards will have nothing to argue their precious PS3 is better at.

It also looks like the 360 will have them well before they are ready for the PS3. With the PS3 manufacturing soon being outsourced to the same company that makes the 360, the PS3 may have its own reliability issues in the future.

Except we didn't have to buy multiple systems to get a quality one, our launch PS3s work.

Oh, and we'll have better games by then too.

Oh and then there's free multiplayer, and how we have a more open system (we can use our hard drives in it, download content to 5 PS3s/PSPs, use bluetooth/USB keyboards/mice/headsets, run linux, more video codecs) built in bluray which helps game developers

For a guy named common sense, you have very little of it

You know, ps3 fanboys are realy stupid mother fuuckers. So are 360 fanboys though haha! Its not about whos console is faster (although the wii is pushing my rule) but what kind of games you like and are they on a console. The ps3 will have good games from of all kinds, but it will be best in RPG's. I am not into rpg's and i dont have the kind of time to waste on that kind of game. The xbox will be better in shooters. I, Love, Shooters /end. I have also not had a problem with my 360 and im pushing 7 months now, i dont have a person on my xbox live friends list that has eithor.

Games im looking forward to (not only 360 exclucive)
------------------------
Forza 2
Assasins creed
Mass Effect
Halo 3 ( not the biggest fan but it still is a nice game)
C+C3
GTA4
Fable2
GoW2
Resident Evil
Bioshock

Out of 5 people I know with 360s, only one had the 3 light error and all he had to do was return it at wal mart. The rest always worked fine. Most of the 360s that fail do it in the first year anyway so MS pays.

But yes the PS3 does have its advantages. You get the half-assed PSN, which just recently added downloads for about 8 different 11 year old Playstation one games. Did they manage to get those playable on your PS3 yet?
You can also download content to all 5 of your PS3s and PSPs! You can have a PSP and PS3 in each room and share the PS1 game downloads! How useful!
Sure you can use bluetooth devices on the PS3, but when you can plug the keyboard and headset into the interference free wirless controller, why would you need to?
Ahhh, the half-assed Linux. A single core processor with no GPU access and less than 200 mb of RAM, how many of your favorite Linux games are compatible with that?
How does blu ray help developers? They need to duplicate the often used data and cache more to the hard drive just to keep the load times down.

For a guy named Extinction, you describe the PS3's fate perfectly.
