It's nice to sometimes see corpo-bigwigs share the sentiments of common lay folk, especially when it comes to price cuts. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick would be one example of such corpo-bigwig, and yes, he too, like many of us out here, was disappointed that no console price cut was announced at E3.In an interview with Bloomberg, he revealed that he would have wanted to see consoles getting "aggressive price cutting." Said Kotick, "Of all the things that the hardware companies need to be doing right now, it's recognizing the difficulties of the economy and pricing their hardware appropriately." He's said before, "I think when you're in the economic circumstances that the world has found itself in, there really is a difference between a US$ 199 game system and a US$ 299 game system." But it looks like the big hardware companies do not necessarily share Kotick's enthusiasm for price cuts. Sony's Kaz Hirai, for example, has been vocal about his stand as well, saying that "We're very happy with the price point we have. We will move it when we think it's appropriate at some point in time." Related Articles:

» No Cuts
Funny thing is... I don't remember seeing any price cuts in EA games either. Pretty easy to point the finger at the consoles!

also - "I think when you're in the economic circumstances that the world has found itself in, there really is a difference between a US$ 199 game system and a US$ 299 game system."
Does he not realize the 360 arcade IS $199? and the wii is only $50 more.

Along the same lines as I was thinking. Maybe if Goldberg is "so upset" he'll reach into his big 'ol Activision pocket and give some subsidy money to Sony so that they can drop their PS3 price. ....No? (chump)
And, you are absolutely right that it's beyond funny that $60 and $70 games are "priced just right" for this economy, but a $300 or $400 game console (which does OTHER things, besides play games, too) is not. Heck, let's compare to the value of a $200 console (Xbox): Mr Activision is saying that an entire console is equal in value to 3 of his games, ... or (even better) within $20 value of his Guitar Hero World Tour package. --Too funny.

Stop asking Sony for a price cut! They wont do one till the time is just right to do a price cut right now is not the right time.

Why is he or anybody else b!tchin over it anyway. It's not like Activision was losing millions upon millions of dollars over selling their product. Now that Sony is about to break even with manufacturing costs (if they haven't already) everyone feels that they deserve a price drop for the damn thing.
I almost wish that Sony removes more features with future PS3 models just as a way of sayin "that's what you get for waiting so long".

If anyone needs to drop the price on their console it is nintendo....
Seriously, it was really never worth that much to begin with....and now that millions of people have bought it and it is easy to find...the damn thing needs to go down to $150...
360 is definitely better than Wii and when you can get a 360 for cheaper than a wii....something is wrong.

Wii is using outdated materials to make the Wii and tbh, it's cost more to sell than make, which means Nintendo is making money by ripping us off by $20-$40 dollars more.
