Alan Wake - Image 1

Remedy Entertainment has expounded on their earlier statements about focusing on Xbox 360 development for their psychological action thriller Alan Wake, and unfortunately for PC gamers, it's bad news.

A spokesman from Remedy has told Digital Spy that the game's PC version has been shelved indefinitely. The devs themselves want to be able to put out a PC version, but the final decision is up to Microsoft.

"Our PC plans are currently open [and] therefore a joint PC/Xbox launch is not possible at this late stage," said the rep. "Remedy has a deep heritage in PC gaming and we would love to see a PC version available for our PC followers. Ultimately, however, this is a decision that lies with our publisher."

does microsoft just not realize that the only reason people still use windows is for gaming? if microsoft keeps doing things like this, they will effectively kill their own product. it is obvious that they have a very narrow view of the future if they are even planning ahead at all. for their sake, microsoft better get their act together.

When I said "people" I was referring to the people that are trying to make the transition to other operating systems. I should have made myself more clear. Games are the only reason I still use Windows (and because I like Visual Studio), because frankly, nearly every program that is specific to Windows has an open source alternative and in some cases that alternative is actually better. The point I was trying to make is that if Microsoft continues to shut out the PC gaming community, they will lose some of their user base and they do not want that to happen. I see no reason for them to keep building up their 360 user base but keeping the PC in the dark. Having a PC alternative to their 360 games will increase sales for that game and keep the PC people happy. Everybody wins.

I think most people use windows cause it's easy and it's what their used to, it's those same people who use Internet Explorer. But I do think it's a lame move on Microsofts part to put a stop to the pc version but I think it's safe to assume it'll be coming later on.

Most people use windows because they are duped into buying an OEM license (and don't realize they have a choice) when they pick up a OEM bundle from a big box store. With apple pc products hitting big box stores, that has been changing...
