Ryu striking a pose in Street Fighter 4 - Image 1

Last time, we reported that more information regarding the next installment in Capcom's classic one-on-one slugfest series, Street Fighter 4, would be forthcoming. Well, perk up your ears because the news has finally arrived-with an initial screenshot to boot.

Capcom's Street Fighter 4 will reportedly feature new techniques, new locations and gameplay features, while retaining the classic six-button layout and 2D fighting system. Capcom, however, hasn't yet specified exactly which platorm(s) will host Street Fighter 4.

Aside from the barrel-chested Ryu featured in the screenshot above, Capcom will reportedly be bringing back other familiar faces such as Ken, Dhalsim and Chun-Li for Street Fighter 4. In fact, you'll probably notice that the environment in the picture above looks like a souped up version of Chun-Li's stage from Street Fighter 2.

In any case, we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for more news regarding Capcom's upcoming fighting game, so stay tuned for more Street Fighter 4 updates as we get them.

One year should be plenty of time for Capcom to make it into a worthy sequel. :)

It has 3D graphics but is still a 2D fighter.

What the hell Capcom!? You've just ruined Street Fighter. I was just playing Street Fighter Double Impact on my Dreamcast with it's excellent 2-D visuals and then I hop on the computer and this is what I find. I loved Street Fighter since Street Fighter II (sorry, but you have to admit that the first Street Fighter was not good, you could only play as Ryu or Ken and the gameplay was not great). Street Fighter was the best game you could play in arcades back in the old days and is still the best arcade game. The EX Street Fighters were crappy. Hopefully Capcom changes it's mind and switches to the 2-D character models and background.
