Street Fighter IV - Image 1

"Practically confirmed." This is what Capcom's Japanese Q&A Blog is saying about the matter of a sequel for their famed brawler Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360, PC).  They even dropped several clues as to what the future updates for SFIV will have.

  • A new character who is Gouken's daughter. She is "probably is as strong as Ryu, Ken or Akuma" and "maybe can do a one handed hadouken like his father can"

  • Rolento is mentioned as a possible character

  • Special intros (Gouken vs Ryu, for example) will probably be added in the next update or next version

  • They want to add a 'diagram', a tier chart showing the results of each match-up. This was supposedly included with Street Fighter IV at some point during development to help balance the characters.
A survey was also mentioned, most likely to have a better feel of what the players will want in the next iteration, but there's no word as to this will only be for Japanese gamers or also for other territories.

"maybe can do a one handed hadouken like HIS father can" ....thats funny

Aside from typos respectively Capcom needs to put more creativity in their characters, this almost as bad as "lets make another Sub-Zero.....except a female" ( I didn't like Frost ) Sakura's enough this chick better be FKN Raw!

they just make add on content like adding characters or whatever it is. A sequel now? It's like milking our money like hot Left4Dead is. They're fighting system is already good but they just need to have better add on content. It sucks how last time I read, there won't be any add on characters so hope whatever they do helps.

 » Hello???

There's already a sequel to Street Fighter IV, its called Street Fighter 3. I wish they'd focus more on updating that game's formula and leave the "All Play" style of game in the past. Parry > Focus

taking out parry was a strange thing to do.

and the bonus rounds.. where the ***** are they?

 » Hm

Parrying was technically superior to focus moves but the devs aim for SF4 was to make the game more physical than technical. Rather than someone spending time learning every last animation down to frame perfection and then being able to beat anyone, he made it to where you're playing your opponent rather than the game engine. It doesn't please everyone but it certainly didn't water the game down at all.

Aside from SF3 having crappy characters it was a great game, but I will never see it as SF4's sequel because everyone who was cool is absent in that game, I say they should wipe SF3 off the face of Street Fighter and make it a spin off or alternate storyline. Also, since they're going to be dishing out surveys, I'm sure they'll make this game even better than SF4 since Capcom listens to their fan demands. If enough people want parrying they'll put it in and make it work how they want it to (but hopefully not make it to where any preschooler can pull it off). They'll also likely add everything people wanted in 4 like bonus rounds, special intros, tag matches etc.

I'm glad they're already thinking about the future, theres limits to DLC but there are no limits with new titles.

 » Nope

No limits to DLC, just look at Burnout Paradise or(on PC) World of Warcraft.
