I think PS3 will win this generation when all is said and done. What I’m more curious about is the next one really. Microsoft made a dent this time around and can stand to finally get the upper hand if they stick it out and/or if Sony stays complacent like they did early on in this generation. That’s where the real fight is going to be in my opinion. |

Well I don't agree that PS3 will win for sure this gen, but the probability isn't low either. What I think Sony should do is that they have to stop being so sure of themselves. PS3 is already hurt from the lack of games in its library. What they need is competent developers making exclusives for them. 360 is doing well in that regard. Next generation is really boiling down to what games you can have exclusively on your console. The console with the most quality exclusives wins the race.
I'm a little agree with you. The thing is, if everyone look the history of the PS, they always have a slow start with few games and that look less than OK. After the first year the PS was gaining momentum and better games came out. Thats what happening with the PS3 too. You can't tell that the better exclusive isn't with the ps3 now in this year. The exclusives games with name past away, just GOW2 have a name now in the 360, the other games beside mass effect 2 isn't too interesting for me and anyway there's a rumor that maybe mass effect 2 will come to the ps3. What I hate of Sone and you said it is that they are so sure of them.
The PS3 is only a year old, did you forget that? The 360 had even less games in its first year, I dont see how its fair to say that becuase the system has few games a year into its life its doing poorly. As for exclusives? The XBOX has what? 3? 4 big ones this year? The Playstation 3 has 7 or 8? MGS4, LBP, GT5:P, Infamous, White Knight Chronicles, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and Playstation Home just off the top of my head.
Yea, I can see PS3 winning due to the fact that it's pretty quickly catching up right now. But it probably won't win by that huge a margin as the past two generations. Namely it's due to the fact that 360 actually has made a presence in the this generation as opposed to the original xbox. And also I find it more common for people to have multiple consoles, so I think EVENTUALLY most "hardcore" gamers will have all three while more casual gamers will opt for Wii for it's family-orientedness or the PS3 for it's Blu ray player capability.
I really feel that there won't be a clear winner when it comes to the PS3 and XB360. They've both got advantages and disadvantages that to hamper them in the future. The PS3's problem I think will come from its RAM. It just doesn't have enough. The amount of installing of PS3 games is likely to rise as the BD-ROM Drive reads much slower than a DVD-ROM Drive. The XB360's weakness is mainly in the form of it DVD-ROM Drive. This problem is already showing up with the games Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey where it takes more than one disc to complete the game. The 360 is only 2 years old and the games are already maxing out at four discs. The 360's advantage lies in it RAM and GPU. There's a total 512MB of RAM for the 360, while the PS3's is separated in to 256MB for the CPU and 256 for the GPU. If the 360 CPU only needs 22MB of RAM, the GPU can take the rest of the RAM if it needs it and vice versa. I have both the PS3 and 360 love them both! This war between the exclusive is a lot of fun because both companies have to try harder to one-up each other, which means a better pay-off for us, the games!
Go where the good games go no matter the system. That's what a true gamer does!
The PS3, while having separated RAM, is not locked to its 256MB memory for the GPU. The GPU in fact can access the XDR RAM of the CPU. Developers are already doing that and you can see how games that are released nowadays look better than the ones that came out at launch. Compare Resistance to Uncharted, quite a difference. And also blu-ray, while having read speeds lower than DVD, is not entirely a bad thing. The good thing about blu-ray is that it consistently reads at a good speed across the whole disc, unlike DVDs, which reads the fastest of 12X on the edge of the disc, which contains roughly 1--2GB of data. Blu-ray on the other hand has constant read speed across the whole disc. It's a common misconception that blu-ray read speeds are inferior to the DVDs. Most people don't realize the read speeds of DVDs vary depending on the laser's position on the DVD.
He must mean is the console war since Nintendo didn't join. The Wii already won. It's just a fight for 2nd place now.The one thing I do know the ps3 will never be a ps2 due to the competition. The Wii is the new ps2 whether people like it or not it's true.
Haha... and then you woke up...
When the Wii has more then 2 good games a year on it, wake me up.
Well in a way you're right. The Wii's graphics are just as bad as the 8 year old PS2.
If indeed the ps3 were to win the war with 360 and wii, it would be the greatest comeback in console history!
ME!!! Because i'm no longer a fanboy and have a new pc with dual 8800 ultra's that can play crysis which blows away any of the lame console games. I still do play my 360 but honestly i don't give a rats behind who wins anymore. Have fun you bunch of babbling 5th graders.
Yeah... enjoy all the viruses!!!
Who cares about your dual 8800 Ultras, and oh if you're showing off, why not put on a three way SLI? Crysis is a good shooter but hardly the best. Games like Gears of War and Call of Duty 4 are far better games than Crysis because of their gameplay, and their graphics aren't bad either. Oh, and Far Cry 2 will have better graphics than Crysis and that will be on the consoles. Even Crytek director Cervat Yerli has said that consoles can handle Crysis, their CPUs and GPUs are good enough, the only thing that falls a little short is the memory, in which streaming can take care of. Please just leave this forum.
Thanks for that reply! I didn't think about those aspects. I stand corrected! And now that I know, I can discuss the whole issue with complete info.
If MS find a way to really fix the glitches and offer some sort of factory recall program that would probably rebuild the confidence. Sure it will cost A HELL LOT at that moment but still better than spending all that continuously with endless shipping.
I've been a PS1, PS2, PSP buyer but I am sure I will not get PS3 for sure. If my 360 broken and out of warranty I'll just try a 2nd hand unit and that's it (if that still breaks then I'll just stop since there is no way I'll buy the PS3 version of the same games I already have). Think it's about time to go back to PC gaming. Besides, I played some PS2 games with my kids and they are still enjoyable.
A 3 year warranty isn't good enough? Recalls are for safety issues.
