After announcing that Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements will finally be available to Xbox 360 players in December, Ubisoft somewhat retracted the statement and pushed the title's release some time in the fourth quarter of its financial year - meaning the game will be released between January and March 2008.It should be remembered that the game was first scheduled to be released this month but Ubisoft declared that it is pushing back Dark Messiah to December to coincide with the release date of the other titles for other platforms. Now we have Ubisoft further delaying Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements' release. Will this play to their advantage (delaying game releases to increase hype is a common strategy in the gaming industry), or will this cause a waning of interest for their video game? This video game, made for the PC platform, is actually a port of the original for the Xbox 360. However, several new features have been added to make it more appealing to console players, including controls revision and Xbox Live integration. |

The video game Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements, which originally invaded the hearts of PC gamers, will soon be making its way on the Xbox 360. But before it does, it's good to know first what the improvements done by Ubisoft to the title are. Check out the game's user interface for example. Ubisoft will be using a program known as Menus Master. This basically helps artists and programmers to reduce the time it takes to author any sophisticated game user interfaces. This includes 2D and 3D front-ends, in-game UIs and HUDs. But what does this mean to you as a gamer? Because of the Menus Master, Dark Messiah will have that extra artsy-fartsy look - achieved 'cause it allows the artists to manipulate the user interface without the help of programmers. It means lesser development steps and faster delivery from Ubisoft. Producer Daniel Palix had this to say, Menus Master added power and flexibility to our user interface development process, it was critical in allowing the development team to quickly and easily make a lot of changes, even deep ones, in order to obtain the best user interface. Menus Master was developed and is owned by the company Omegame. |

Pretty soon, the Xbox 360 will have its own fill of the brutal melee combat, devastating magic spells, and deadly environmental traps. Ubisoft recently released details of the game Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements for Microsoft's console, showing eager 360 gamers what the game has in store for them. Xbox's Dark Messiah will be powered by Valve Corporation's award-winning Source engine, the same engine used in the very popular game Half-life 2. This transition will allow Xbox 360 players all over the globe to experience the same high-detailed interactive environments, dark atmosphere, and brutal combat as as the PC title - features which made the video game a favorite among PC gamers. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements boasts of more action for the 360 player with game mechanics carefully refined for all the pad-controlled mayhem you can dish out with the addition of the new lock-on system. Tweaked level design and game statistics also add to the overall feel. Taking control of Sareth once again, players get to explore 12 chapters of storyline and 3 previously unreleased secret levels, new objectives, gameplay, and rewards. The game allows players to master 30 weapons of war, harness the power of 12 new destructive spells, engage enemies in face-to-face melee combat, or summon magic powers to blow them away from afar. Traps, pits, even the environment can be used to further goals. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements promises a whole lot of fun-filled hours for the Xbox 360 player. Another feature which will draw attention is probably the innovative multiplayer mode designed by Ubisoft Annecy, the same team which developed the critically acclaimed multiplayer modes found in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell games. Dark Messiah's multiplayer mode allows up to 10 players to sign up with either the undead or the humans and choose to either be an archer, priestess, mage, or knight. Each class comes with its own unique skills and spells designed to significantly shorten the life spans of foes. Ubisoft is known for always delivering high-quality, cutting edge video games such as the Prince of Persia series, Far Cry Instincts, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed. As with any title experiencing the transition from PC to console, there will be some apprehension as to whether or not the developer can keep the same feel of the game, let alone expand it. But with a developer like Ubisoft, well, we'll just have to wait and see. |

Known as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements (by Arkane Studios) for the console folks, the upcoming port still sports the same action-packed first person gameplay. As the name suggests, you can use melee weapons or magic to get rid of your foes. In the trailer, we also see that the game boasts of a new multiplayer scheme courtesy of the Splinter Cell team.
