Dead of Alive, the MovieThough Dead or Alive is one of the most popular fighting games in the market, which on top of having been released on multiple consoles, has also spawned a plethora of merchandise, many believe that bringing the whole concept of female fighters in scanty clothing to Hollywood may not have been such a good idea.

Slated to be released in October this year, Dead or Alive the Movie centers around the characters Tina Armstrong, Christie, Kasumi (referred to as "Princess Kasumi" in the film), and Helena Douglas. As the plot goes, these ladies are invited to a secret martial arts meet to compete against each other, only to end up fighting as a group to defeat an evil force.

One has to admit that the soup isn't particularly thick in this one. However, judging from the trailer (which I have watched after the credits of another particularly good movie this year), it does promise some slick action moves from our femme fetales. Yet the question remains: will watching the movie and the ladies who star in it be even nearly as rewarding as just staying home and playing the game instead? What do you think? I don't really get who there aiming this movie at, I mean the people who like the game enough to see the movie will be put off by how little it actually looks like the game...

they should have stuck to Japanese Actresses and just made a DOAX film!

Well .. DOA will be as good as: Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Brothers and BloodRayne - nothing but a waste of time.

I for one love the games, I have played them over and over again and I still keep on playing. But to me this movie looks horrific. It seems to have no real idea of what DoA actually is, forgetting the plot that has unfolded game by game. Its, as an interview with one of the crew stated, every 13 year olds dream.
But that's not what I'm looking for in a movie that is based upon a game that proudly wears its "16+" sticker here in the Uk, I am not looking for some impulse Charlies-Angelsesque bull***** aimed at entertaining 13 year olds who's only desire in a movie is to see some explosions and abit of cleavage. No, I want Dead or Alive as it was on the consoles. Not this bull*****.

From that poster, can anyone see who the characters are supposed to be? I guess the one with the hat on is probably Tina, but the rest are lost on me.

I think I saw a trailer for this ages ago, and one of them had a really cheap wig on.....maybe that's changed (I hope so).

I agree with poster #5 but the actress that plays Kasumi is flat as a board, this should have been animated so at least the caracters would look somewhat like in the games since there are no big boob models who could act.

These girls are pretty hot but I think they should have made the movie CG to stay true to the game. These girls that are going to play the parts probably never played the game and don't care one way or the other what it is supposed to be like. They do look like they would be fun to play with but not to see in this type of movie.

Looks more like a porno to me... They should just start over and make one. =)

I did like Mortal Kombat, just because the fighting was too badass. Mario... was different.

Back on topic:
Unless these DOA actresses are playing volleyball in string bikinis, and the film is rated NC-17, I don't even want to bother...

Oh God! Roger "games aren't art" Ebert is going to have a field-day!!! Sh*t!!

VIDEO GAMES AND MOVIES.

Most of all Dead or Alive movie could be better it should have the better cast in the movie during the movie now Fear effect,Far Cry all are in production and the other thing,Virtua Fighter.
Jackie Chan should make the movie out of the Virtua Fighter series and to be written and directed by Simon West,The plot will focus on J6 and the evil Dural has brianwashed and clone two Gohs and its up to the Akira,Lau and the Virtua Fighters must stop Dural from reaching her goals.
DOA:Dead or Alive movie is a problem and it should be better from the start.
Thanks.
