December 2, 2005 - An independent developer is suing Electronic Arts for allegedly stealing ideas for a feature in Madden NFL 06, claiming breach of implied contract.

According to a Reuters story today, Virtual Jam owner Pernell Harris filed suit in San Mateo County claiming he had met with EA in 2003 to present "Heart of a Champion," a game which followed an aspiring athlete from high school to the professional leagues. Harris says the similar section in Madden NFL 06 -- presumably Superstar Mode -- uses his ideas.

"We have read the complaint and the allegations are completely without merit," an EA spokeswoman told Reuters.

Harris seeks unspecified damages, attorney's fees, and restitution.
