Enemy in your territory: Quake Wars demo lands - Image 1

Been aching to flex your PC's muscles (or mouse reflexes)? You're in luck, because Splash Damage has released a demo for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PlayStation 3, Windows PC over DVD, Xbox 360) just for the PC community, with a chock full of goodies for the multiplayer goon and single-player soloist in everybody. As promised, the finalized version of Valley is now ready to be re-experienced.

Because if you've participated in the Beta phase for Enemy Territory, you've already scurried (or driven) across the map's landscapes to beat back the Strogg, and kept your glass of water poison-free. But if tackling with FPS hustlers was never your style, you could ease down the pressure notch a bit with a more cooperative single-player mode.

And if hordes of other players keep flooding the various dedicated servers provided, you can always opt for the classic LAN fest for local, high-speed gaming. Get a feel of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars before it hits shelves on October 2 in North America and September 28 in Europe. Oh and yes, it is also coming for Linux and Mac gamers worldwide.

In the plus side, however, a recent interview conducted by GameSpot AU has revealed that the console versions won't be different from the leading PC version. Nerve Software's Brian Matt did confirm several things coming to the Xbox 360 version, the major ones every bit as identical to Splash Damage's version.
  • Single-player mode with up to 15 bots (player makes 16), check.
  • Same bot artificial intelligence as PC version, check.
  • Multi-player mode with ability to turn consoles into servers, check.
  • Multi-player mode with console friendly matchup service, check.
  • Proficiencies leveling up in single-player and multi-player (reset after campaigns are completed), check.
  • Subtle aiming aid, plus other helpful controller features, check.
  • Cross-platform multiplayer, dropped.
No word yet on Z-Axis, who are busy at work on the Sony PlayStation 3 version. More on Splash Damage and id Software's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as they drop in.

When id Software promised us that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was going to be more than just guns, ammo and mayhem, they weren't kidding. This exciting new FPS prospect is being touted as a thinking man's shooter wherein brutal tactics must be devised to offset enemy defenses.

In this trailer, you'll be walked through by the devs on some of the basic aspects of Strogg behavior. You'll come to understand that Quake Wars is a game that's won and lost depending on offensives and counters. With some strategy, troop coordination and a decent aim, plowing through alien hordes should be a snap.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is set for release on the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and the PC later this year. It's one of the season's most awaited projects and is sure to be a favorite in this region. We'll update you for more news about this bombshell in progress.

QuakeCon is proving to be one hell of a ride so far and one of the highlights of this big bash is the unveiling of the new Enemy Territory: Quake Wars trailer. When you want to talk about making an impression, you don't look any further than this clip. Have a look:

Not a lot of games have the honor of following a franchise that defines a genre, but this one has the distinction of walking up to two sets of golden footsteps. For one, it's a follow up to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, but it's also set in the same universe as Quake II and Quake 4. A bit confusing? You'll have to wait to see everything come together.

These colliding worlds will take place on the PC and rivalling platforms Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360. Similar to Quake III Arena, it focuses on multiplayer gameplay. Bots can be added to enrich the fun with huge maps, aircraft and vehicles.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Image 1

During the QuakeCon 2007, id Software has finally confirmed the release date for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Well, for the PC version, at least. Via press line, we learn that Europe will be getting the title earlier on September 28 of this year, while North America gets it a few days later on October 2.

No news yet on the release dates for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, as they're currently still being developed by Activision and Nerve Software respectively (the PC version is being done by Splash Damage).

What we do have, however, are screens for the game. This batch hails from Shacknews and, though there's just four of them, they pack quite a walloping punch in the graphics department. And mind you, these screens are HIIIYYUUUGE (given that you click on the thumbs, of course).

Continuing our coverage of the ongoing E3 Media and Business Summit, here's a new video of the upcoming multiplatform FPS title Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (Mac, Linux, Games for Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360).

This video is essentially a demonstration of the different customization options available to the Global Defense Force and the Strogg. We also get a look at the different combat roles that players can choose to play as along with a look at Quake Wars' mission system and the different objectives that can be assigned to players throughout the course of a mission.

There's also a cool demonstration there of the different ways players can choose to tackle a given objective or target. Not only can players shoot the wheels off of vehicles rather than blow them up, they can also choose to repair them with the help of a trusty pair of pliers. Pretty cool stuff. Check out the vid below.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars screenshots from Beta - Image 1

After seeing that slaughter gameplay montage for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC), we're sure you're left wanting more. You're in luck as we have uncovered eye candy for you, courtesy of WorthPlaying.

Activision and Splash Damage's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is currently undergoing a public beta test and even if you've been gathering moss under that rock, you can still get a beta key. Anyway, the batch of screenshots we have today are from the beta but they still look pretty, though not as pretty as some players would have liked. In the screens, we see some of the maps that we'll be brawling in when this FPS title comes out.

We also get a peek at the lobby where players can choose which side they'll fight as (Strogg or GDF), and what unit they choose to be. We also see a spectator button smack in the middle of the two factions' icons which will be nifty if you want to check out your next opponents.

Anyway, enough babble from us. We'll keep you updated on more news regarding Enemy Territory: Quake Wars as they happen. In the meantime, check out the screenshots.
