Gears of War 2 - Image 1

Tanya Jessen, the associate producer of Epic Games' Gears of War 2, has announced that there will be no demo for the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive. According to her, this is because "it's been such a fast turnaround. A two year production cycle, for a game of this caliber, is really short."

She pointed out that the company is focused on releasing the "best possible game" they can and that working on a demo is essentially working on a whole new product (which would probably split up their work force). However, she did hint that they might work on a demo after the game ships when she said, "as far as our plans after we ship, I can't really speak to that."

This is pretty similar to what happened to Gears of War for the Xbox 360 which didn't have a demo either but went on to sell over three million copies with its first ten weeks in the market place. Could this be Epic Games sticking to the old adage, "don't fix what isn't broken"? More importantly, will it work this time around?
