Xbox 360 - Image 1A couple of new demos have become available on the Xbox Live Marketplace: one for Bizarre Creations and Microsoft's Project Gotham Racing 4 and one for TimeGate and Vivendi's F.E.A.R. Files: Extraction Point expansion pack.

Those who have yet to purchase a copy of Project Gotham Racing 4 should download and try this 1.27GB demo. It includes three cars and two bikes which players can use to race through the streets of Macau or in the Nurburgring Snow Challenge. The Project Gotham Racing 4 demo is available in all Xbox Live regions.

The F.E.A.R. Files: Extraction Point demo's size is roughly half that of the Project Gotham Racing 4 demo. In the demo, players will be able to go toe-to-toe with Replica soldiers and supernatural entities using a powerful arsenal of high-tech weapons. This demo is available only to Xbox Live users in the U.S. and Canada.

Alma - Image 1As was reported last June, Monolith Productions sent word to the gaming community that they were looking for a new name for the upcoming sequel to their F.E.A.R. FPS for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. We've just picked up word that as of today, the developer have tabulated the votes for the winning entry: Project Origin.

As previously reported, Project Origin is to be published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Monolith Producer Troy Skinner expressed his team's happiness regarding the new name:

Our team really enjoyed letting the fans drive the naming process, and we are excited to expand upon the work we began in the original game and establish Project Origin as a premier gaming franchise in its own right.

Project Origin will take off where the F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point expansion leaves off. Players will find themselves racing against the clock in this supernatural suspense-themed FPS as they attempt to prevent Alma, a powerful psychic, from wreaking havoc on a major American City. Drop back in case we pick up more details for the sequel.

Sierra's party just concluded, but where's the fun in that if there weren't any F.E.A.R.? Sure enough, some goodness from F.E.A.R Files (a stand alone expansion set for the Xbox 360), leaving us with this gameplay video.

As a bundle of F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate and F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, you'd expect the same action Sierra's hair raising game delivered, and that's what this footage is all about. You'll see bullets flying everywhere, slow motion effects, some bad-ass weapons, and, of course, dead guys who fell victim to the player's rage.

See all that by watching the embed below:

F.E.A.R.'s Alma - Image 1The good Major has just announced more additional content for the horror FPS F.E.A.R. from Sierra Entertainment. The new pack, dubbed Synchronicity, is now available to all regions except Asia and Mexico.

So what's in the Synchronicity Pack? It includes five multiplayer maps, three of which are Capture the Flag and Conquer All maps (Dead Wood, Labs, and Depot). Two Deathmatch and Control maps come in the form of Waterworks and Stockpile. Hmm... That's five new gameplay experiences for you as each map has its own flavor.

F.E.A.R.'s Synchronicity Pack is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace, all yours for 550 Microsoft points. The pack weighs about 316.73 MB - not so bad if you're wanting for more hard drive space.

With the recent E3 announcement of upcoming F.E.A.R. expansion packs (for the PC and Xbox 360), a lot of us might be wondering what we can expect. We've seen screenshots just the other day, but here's something better: an actual gameplay montage of the F.E.A.R. Proteus Mandate.

Now, remember that Halo 3 video from a few months back that showed nothing but pwnage, pwnage, pwnage? This probably follows in that tradition, but takes pwnage up a notch. Frags in this video are shown in the glory that is "reflex time." Slow-mo, for the F.E.A.R.-deprived.

Shooting down enemies, pinning them onto a wall by firing a dart through their head, and blowing them up into itty-bitty pieces that would fit nicely in Hannibal Lecter's little Tupperware containers... All the brutality looks so much better with stylized visuals in reflex time.

The F.E.A.R. Proteus Mandate expansion on the PC is to be released simultaneously with its Xbox 360, F.E.A.R. Files (which contains Proteus Mandate and Extraction Point), this fall.

F.E.A.R. - Image 1Sierra Entertainment has announced a pair of new expansion packs for the popular FPS title F.E.A.R. These expansion packs are for both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

The all-new PC pack is called F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate. This will be the second expansion pack for the PC version of F.E.A.R. and reveals a parallel story that allows players to take the role of a different F.E.A.R. soldier and battle new enemies.

F.E.A.R. Files, meanwhile, is a complete stand-alone expansion pack series for the Xbox 360. F.E.A.R. Files will contain the aforementioned Perseus Mandate campaign as well as the Extraction Point expansion.

You can check out a few screenshots of F.E.A.R. Files by clicking on the Full Article link below. Both expansion packs are scheduled to ship in the fall.

F.E.A.R. - Image 1

If you've got F.E.A.R., then you're going to want this new free download Vivendi Games has put up for the game. It adds two new multiplayer modes to the action, allowing you to either gain control of a map or capture all in an attempt to win out against your enemies.

The title update adds the Control and Capture All multiplayer modes to the game, which are described by Vivendi below:

In Control there are 3 control points on a map. Your team gains points based on the amount of time a control point is in their possession—the more control points your team has the faster your team gains points. The team with the most points at the end of the round wins.

In Conquer All there are 5 control points on the map. If either team can hold all 5 points at one time they win. If no team can control all 5 points simultaneously then the winning team is decided by points. Teams get 10 points for each control point taken, 10 points for each enemy point neutralized and 1 point for each kill.

In addition to the above-mentioned multiplayer modes, the download also adds a couple of extra features. For one thing, the title update makes F.E.A.R. compatible with future maps that'll be made available. Second, hosts in Player Matches can now invite their friends into both public and private slots for games. Third, they've added blood splatter to enemy uniforms to, as they call it, "make combat more visceral." Lastly, players can now make their heads-up display fade in the HUD fade speed slider, with the HUD showing up only when needed.

The download is 120 MB in size, so feel free to log onto Xbox Live and grab it now.

Monolith announces Name Your Fear contest - Image 1A rift between Monolith Productions and Vivendi SA is a video game developer; formerly known as Vivendi Universal">Vivendi almost cost fans a sequel to the FPS title F.E.A.R (PC, PS3, Xbox 360). Turns out, fans will be getting two sequels to the title: one from Vivendi (who still owns the F.E.A.R. title and plans to release F.E.A.R. 2) and another title from Monolith set within the F.E.A.R. universe.

Since Vivendi still owns the brand name, Monolith can't use it for their upcoming sequel. With a bit of quick thinking, Monolith has come up with a cool way to get around the whole name issue. They've announced a contest where gamers can send in their suggestions for what the new F.E.A.R. game should be called.

The contest will run until June 22, when submissions will be narrowed down to three finalists. These finalists will get an all-expense-paid trip to meet the game's dev team at Monolith and get a grand tour of the company's facilities. All three finalists will also get their names and likenesses included in the game.

Once the finalists are chosen, the ball will once again be in the fans' court. On July 23, voting will be open to the public to let the fans decide what name to go with. The voting will continue until June 27. For more details, click on the read link below.

Put up something like this, hear the PS3 fanboys scream into one ear, and Xbox 360 fanboys scream into the other ear. Now you know why we're in the print business. GameVideos has this side-by-side video of Day 1/Vivendi's F.E.A.R.

Don't worry - GameVideos points out which side of the sync'd video is the PS3 and which is the Xbox 360. Other than that, you know the drill by now. Watch, analyze, inwardly digest, head over to GameVideos for the HD-level, HDD-heavy download if you desire it, offer your opinions in the comments.

And we never heard a thing.

F.E.A.R. from Vivendi - Image 1

With the final stretch of the wait at hand for Vivendi's FPS title, F.E.A.R., it definitely wouldn't hurt to have some more of them screenshots to tease you with.

And we have ten for you right here, in fact. Maybe with these screens you'll be a little more forgiving towards Vivendi for delaying F.E.A.R.'s release. See, they weren't slacking off. They were just making sure that you'll have a topnotch experience with the game. And PS3 gamers appear to be having some added goods in the form of some exclusive content for the console version's multiplayer mode. We'll keep you posted for more on that as the news comes along.

Anyhow, enough chitchat now. Expect F.E.A.R. to come your way to Europe on April 20, and April 24 for North America. This time it's for real.
