The first chapter of Fable II: Game Episodes is now available for download on Xbox Live for free. That's right Xbox gamers, Lionhead and Microsoft has decided to release the first episode of  the blockbuster title, free of charge to introduce the players to the vibrant world of Albion where every choice has a consequence, and are able to experience childhood and the trials of being a young adult.

Lionhead Studios' Peter Molyneux reportedly got a beating from fans over the ending of Fable II that they were actually forced into rewriting the DLC. Well, of course he wasn't beaten up literally, only by hate mail, but it's not quite hard to imagine how strong the sense of urgency must have been for them to shelf their already-written DLC storyline to accommodate the request demand of the fans for a happier ending.

Peter Molyneux kicked off Microsoft's GamesCom press conference with a bang by announcing Fable III for the Xbox 360. There's also something in store for the game's forebear, Fable II, in the form of an episodic release on Xbox Live. More after the jump.

Fable 2 players will be able to further pad their Xbox 360 gamerscores by up to 250 gamerpoints thanks to the game's upcoming See The Future DLC. The DLC contains 13 new achievements for gamers to work for, a list of which is available in the full article.

Last week's rumor of two new Xbox 360 bundles are confirmed today by an official press release. Microsoft has announced the Halo 3 and Fable II bundles, both of which are touting the coveted Game of the Year tag on them. Release details in the full article.

Will there or will there not be a Fable II port for the PC? That remains to be the question as Lionhead Studios' Peter Molyneux continues to keep mum about this.

The second batch of Fable 2 DLC are coming! Well, not tomorrow. Try May 2009. Nonetheless, that' s just a few more weeks away, so prepare those 560 Microsoft Points. DLC batch 2 is called "See The Future", with three cursed items being in the possession of Murgo the Trader. You will have to again control the fate of Albion, and in return, you will be gifted with the ability to look  into the future.

 "Don't think about Fable 2 as an RPG franchise -- think about it as the world of Albion," so said Peter Molyneux at the recent GDC. So does this mean that we might as well not expect it to be an RPG? He did not give a specific picture for that, but it would be safe to surmise that that would be the case. So you've already played through the whole of the Knothole Island DLC, eh? Don't worry. Lionhead still has a few things up its sleeve in terms of DLC for Fable 2.
