PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 - Image 1

While the Nintendo Wii console is holding its own in current sales, we can't help but imagine what the future holds for Sony's PlayStation 3, at least according to Weekly Famitsu's "Most Wanted List" from April 27 to May 10.

Their latest survey holds at least four PS3 titles in the top post, which includes must-haves like Final Fantasy XIII, Biohazard 5 (aka Resident Evil), and Metal Gear Solid 4. Wii games in the list include Dragon Quest, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and Super Mario Galaxy.

The Xbox 360 gets a reprieve this time around in the duet of Lost Odyssey and Trusty Bell: Chopin no Yume (aka Eternal Sonata). The latter title is reportedly carrying several high-profile seiyuus (voice actors/actresses) in its cast, including Aya Hirano (Konata Izumi, "Lucky Star"; Haruhi Suzumiya, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya") and Mitsuaki Madono (Sorata Arisugawa, "X-TV"; Loki, "Valkyrie Profile").
  1. Dragon Quest IX (NDS, Square Enix)
  2. Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Square Enix)
  3. Resident Evil 5  (PS3, Capcom)
  4. Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3, Konami)
  5. Monster Hunter 3 (PS3, Capcom)
  6. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (NDS, Nintendo)
  7. Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors (Wii, Square Enix)
  8. Super Robot Taisen: Original Generations (PS2, Banpresto)
  9. Everybody's Golf 5 (PS3, Sony)
  10. Devil May Cry 4 (PS3, Capcom)
  11. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii, Nintendo)
  12. Lost Odyssey (Xbox 360, Microsoft)
  13. Doubutsu no Mori [Animal Crossing] (Wii, Nintendo)
  14. Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3, Square Enix)
  15. Super Mario Galaxy  (Wii, Nintendo)
  16. Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII (PSP, Square Enix)
  17. Subarashiki Kono Sekai: It's a Wonderful World (NDS, Square Enix)
  18. Gran Turismo 5 (PS3, Sony)
  19. Trusty Bell: Chopin no Yume (Xbox 360, Bandai Namco)
  20. Final Fantasy II (PSP, Square Enix)

 » Oh come on

Do we really need this list every damn week? It barely ever changes. Does anybody even care in the first place?

Oh and before any 360-haters come in with "durrrrrr only two 360 games = fail", two 360 games on a Japan top 20 chart is amazing, and a huge leap over last-gen. Last-gen, it'd be surprising to see just one Xbox game in a Japan top 100 chart. Microsoft has made huge strides in Japan, whether you want to admit it or not.

what are those big strides? and the 360 is yet to sell better than the PS3?

 » haha

yea why is the 360 suceeding if they fail in japan?

i mean cmon 10mil consoles is nothing compared to 1 million in japan...because japan is SUCH a great country and everyone who wins...wins japan.

i thing we should all throw our wiis(which is also selling faster then the ps3) and 360s and throw them out the window for a $600 consoles with so few games! because the ps3 is making WAY more strides then the 360 and wii...

right HG99? did i sum it up for you?

 » "Haha"? You're a complete fool

Of course the PS3 is selling better than the 360 in Japan you idiot, that's its home country. What a stupid thing to say

And actually, if you look at sales numbers, considering it's Japan (PlayStation home turf) the PS3 is actually selling very poorly. Sony simply priced it too high and, once again, is doing a horrible job of getting games out in the first year. I don't see the PS3 taking first this gen, if things don't go downhill for the Wii it'll easily take first and if things don't pick up for the PlayStation it won't even take second.

Like I said, the huge stride is two 360 games in a Japan top 20 chart, which would've been unheard of last-gen. Microsoft is finally, slowly but surely, cracking the Japan market, and if they continue to take Japan market share at the rate they are they will own that country as well within a few console generations.

Please don't reply to my comment unless you have at least a small amount of common sense.

» what the f*** about this article

"The Xbox 360 gets a reprieve this time around" what?? with 2 titles? last time it had one (blue dragon), so what? It's not like x360 will sell in japan anyway, they do patriotic economy (just like the US) so their own consoles will sell A LOT more there, dah. I mean, you can't sell an honda civic to Mr. Ford... (he was was alive, that is...).

Anyway, those in the list are my kind of games (JRPG), but I still lack a next-gen console, I'll buy one when a good game will pop (GTA4) :D.

 » Hrmm...

11 Sony Games, 7 Nintendo Games, 2 Microsoft Games
8 PS3 Games, 4 Wii Games, 2 Microsoft Games
3 PSP Games, 3 DS Games, 2 Microsoft Games

Wii is doing better in console sales but PS3 is "gonna" do better is software sales, Sorry for Xbox 360 it isn't going well either way (At least in Japan). But i still think PS3 is gonna win in the end because it is true next-gen unlike the wii or 360 (360 is semi next-gen, I say this because of the lack of disk media and lack of suppot of high-def. ps3=$600 and includes blu-ray 360=$400 + hd-dvd=$200 = a ps3 cost with less power)

 » LMAO at PS3ers

LOL @ PS3 owners firstly for some reason again we only have a Japanese mags wanted chart, lets get a real comparison and also show the USA,Europe and Australians most wanted as this on its own is pointless.

The FACT is PS3 owners that in Japan the 360 outsells the PS3 in software so dont try and make out otherwise.

360 weekly sotware sales - 5,511

PS3 weekly software sales - 4,555

And in the rest of the world the 360 is destroying it.
The Wii hardware in Japan could kill the PS3 when Nintendo can finally keep up with demand.

Japan Wii weekly sales - 56,605

Japan PS3 weekly sales - 8,376
