Just like 2k Games' BioShock (PS3, Xbox 360) in 2007, Ubisoft did the same for Far Cry 2 (PS3, Xbox 360), cropping the 4:3 format to feign the 16:9 aspect ratio. The result? Less picture and more frustrated gamers. Folks in the Widescreen Gaming Forum are having a harder time with the picture, instead of having a larger one which the widescreen is supposed to provide. The red areas in the pictures are the ones you lose due to the cropping. For a widescreen gamer, losing that much picture not only poses in-game inhibitions, it also frustrates them for not getting their money's worth. Too bad, Far Cry 2 deserves all the picture you can get. For now, we're still waiting for an update on whether Ubisoft will fix this problem or not. first!
I was looking forward to buying this game too. I will now wait until there is an update.
thats messed up 4 the folks with a tube tv. But seriously if you have a ps3 and no high-def you are really missing out. Go pawn your tube for what you can get and dish out the extra money 4 a real tv. I have a Samsung T-5054 plasma and it is awsome!
this problem is for the people with a "real tv" - read the article again.
it's people with a tube tv that have the better picture.....that's why widescreen owners are complaining...
Definately a lazy way to implement "widescreen"
4:3 FTW! FullScreen guys, fullscreen :)
The game is incredibly boring anyway..
I'm glad I didn't buy the game now. I was looking forward to the game but this is a deal-breaker for me. Sure some people might say that's nit-picky but I wish developers would realize that small things like this have big impact on people's expectations. They want the game to play fully on the $2,000+ TV and $300-$400 system they've purchased.
Missing picture = missed experience
Really you just see less of your arms/gun and have to look up abit more.....but I agree with ya and see where you are comming from.
wow, that's cheap
