It's confirmed: Uwe Boll's making another movie adaptation of a popular videogame, and this time it's Far Cry. The shooting of the movie - which will take place in Vancouver, Canada, instead of Hawaii as previously stated- will begin immediately next month, as Gamerflicks reports.A little backgrounder on Far Cry: Ubisoft's 2004 first-person shooter puts the player in the shoes of Jack Carver, an ex-Special Forces soldier who encounters mutant creatures known as Trigen after a mercenary job goes awry. Things go sharply downhill after that, with Carver bent on rescuing his employer - a female journalist by the name of Valerie Constantine - and every step bringing him closer to what the Trigens really are, and who created the monstrosities in the first place. That's how it goes in the game. How it actually goes in the movie is anyone's guess - and when Uwe's involved, all bets are off, if one remembers his spin on Postal. With much of the cast and staff from his previous movies reprising their roles, one thing is clear, at least: we're in for one very interesting game-to-movie adaptation. Oh, and in case you're wondering just who'll be portraying Jack, it's a rumored toss-up between Michael Pare ("Bloodrayne II") or Jason Statham ("In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Movie"). |

Far Cry Instincts Predator, developed by Ubisoft and Crytek Studios, is an FPS set in a remote tropical island. The hero of the game, Jack Carver, must use weapons and his mutant powers to stay alive as mercenaries hunt him down. The game has gathered quite a following since it was released, with some players asking for more. Fans of Far Cry Instincts Predator will be pleased to find out that new content in the form of a theme pack and a picture pack have been released in the Xbox Live Marketplace. The theme and picture packs are currently being sold for 40 MS points (US$ 0.50) each. A lot of the people who have heard of this mentioned that both packs are being sold for a very low price. According to some users, the average price for picture packs is about US$ 1.00 (80 MS points) to US$ 1.25 (100 MS points) while theme packs go for around US$ 1.88 (about 150 MS points). Many people have also commented that the release of the picture and theme packs is a bit late since the game was launched March 28 last year. The picture pack is not available in Asia, so Far Cry fans from this area will just have to wait and see if the developers decide to release it there, too. Why don't you check out some of the screenshots and videos from our previous articles to see if the game interests you? |

Of the two, Predator can be seen as the bigger brother, containing graphically enhanced versions of both the new Evolution game as well as the game's predecessor, Far Cry Instincts. In Evolution, Jack Carver once again travels across the breathtakingly beautiful archipelagos of Micronesia. Players can jump into a multitude of vehicles, including ATVs, jet-skis, gliders, trucks, jeeps and pickups. New traits like dart guns and molotov cocktails enhance the 20 weapons arsenal, perfect for the solo campaign as well as in the 20 multiplayer missions, playable via Xbox Live.
