Kaos Studios' General Manager Frank DeLise, otherwise called delisef at the company's community forums, has hinted that Frontlines: Fuel of War (also for the PC) does support more than the current 32-player target. In a recent post, DeLise noted that they will configure servers to support 50 Xbox 360 players duking it out online over Microsoft's Xbox Live.
This comes right after the fact that a recent preview of Kaos Studios' Frontlines: Fuel of War, a tactical-strategic shooter often compared to id Software's similar offering in 2007, surfaced with a clincher. The clincher was that a single Xbox Live session over the Xbox 360 supported "over" 50 players, or so delisef claimed.
"Frontlines will in fact have some servers set to 50 players on [the Xbox 360]. We have been testing for some time now and its on heck [sic] of an experience," said DeLise. He further noted, however, that Frontlines: Fuel of War could support even more than that number - just like how they surpassed the 32-player estimate.
"We actually hit 73 during testing but we are taking baby steps as this is a pretty big leap," concluded DeLise. Will we see a contender for 60-player console multiplayer as boasted by Insomniac Games' Resistance 2 (working title)? That'll probably depend on how much Kaos Studios pushes for.
