EA wins the game - Image 1When E3 comes, the Game Critics Awards is sure to follow. 36 judges have given their verdict, and the winners have surfaced. On top of the list is Rock Band (Xbox 360, PS3), which was branded "Best of the Show."

Activision may have taken a lead over Electronic Arts as the biggest third-party publisher in the industry, but EA's huge staple of games placed the giant company on top. EA won six awards, followed by Microsoft that earned three. Sony snatched two victories, while other publishers (2K Games, Activision, Nintendo, Sega, and Sierra) also won something.

  • Best of Show: Rock Band (Harmonix/MTV Games/EAP for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
  • Best Original Game: LittleBigPlanet (Media Molecule/Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for PS3)
  • Best Console Game: Mass Effect (Bioware/Microsoft Games Studio for Xbox 360)
  • Best PC Game: Crysis (Crytek/EAP)
  • Best Handheld Game: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo for Nintendo DS)
  • Best Hardware/Peripheral: Rock Band Instruments (Harmonix/MTV Games/EAP for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
  • Best Action Game: Call of Duty 4 (Infinity Ward/Activision for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
  • Best Action/Adventure Game: Bioshock (Irrational Games/2K Games for PC, Xbox 360)
  • Best Role Playing Game: Mass Effect (Bioware / Microsoft Games Studio for Xbox 360)
  • Best Racing Game: Burnout Paradise (Criterion Games/Electronic Arts for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
  • Best Sports Game: Madden NFL 08 (Electronic Arts for All Platforms)
  • Best Fighting Game: Virtua Fighter 5 (Sega for Xbox 360)
  • Best Strategy Game: World in Conflict (Massive Entertainment/Sierra for PC)
  • Best Social/Casual/Puzzle: Rock Band (Harmonix/MTV Games/EAP for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
  • Best Online Multiplayer: Halo 3 (Bungie/Microsoft Games Studio for Xbox 360)
  • Special Commendation for Graphics: Killzone 2 (Guerilla Games/Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for PS3)
It's worth nothing that only playable games at E3 were eligible for nomination. As to why Rock Band is the "Best Puzzle Game," your guess is as good as ours. Just head over Game Critics Awards' website via Read link below for more info.

Ya, the category is Social/Casual/Puzzle, so rock band fits because it's all about being social with other "band members". What i don't understand is why those three things are lumped together. they don't have much of anything to do with each other.

WHAT Why will they put in that list Halo 3 went is not out yet. How they can tell is the online is good or better then Halo 2 maybe is worst. and for Killzone 2 I think is ok if you are only talking about graphics but no one can talk about gameplay if nobody had played yet.

Rockband being best puzzle just shows that this list is crappy, rockband is lame anyway, i mean fun but i wouldnt go so far to call it best game of E3? its innovative and fun but how can it be better then a deep imersive game with a killer story line? Y dont ppl that wanna play rockband just get real instruments and learn to play the real thing, then it becomes cool and useful outside of playing on a console eh?

Who the ***** said crysis is coming for ps3 dip*****?

ps3 fanboys still make stuff up to save their system's rep.

Look any whwere crysis is only on PC. and if it were coming to consoles it would be 360, due strong relations with microsoft. But that aint happening either.
