Back in February, the British rock band The Answer has confirmed that their song made the roster of songs for Activision's Guitar Hero 4. Now if you need more proof that GH4 will indeed come this 2008, we present to you a boatload of fresh details from the upcoming June 2008 issue of the Game Informer magazine.

What should we expect for the follow-up to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC)? First off, Guitar Hero 4 will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 2. All platforms will have the same features, although expect a less robust output for the Wii and the PS2.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said in April that they will include a lot of instruments and vocals for Guitar Hero 4. Game Informer specifies these additions to be the drums, the bass guitar and vocals. You can create your own guitar and drum sounds plus your own rocker too.

Another interesting added feature is song creation. Yes, you can now unleash your own inner songwriter. Unfortunately, you can't record vocal tracks yet because of storage and copyright issues. But you can create up to five songs which you can share with the online community over at GH Tunes.

If people give your compositions a high rating, you can upload up to about ten or more songs. To help you make your songs more interesting, you can name them and create their album arts.

All songs will be master tracks but if you're looking for specific track listings, Game Informer stayed mum on the detailed roster. The magazine did confirm that Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime will be featured.

Finally, Guitar Hero 4 will feature a new guitar design from Red Octane which has an innovative input mechanic subject for patent. Looking good so far? Stay tuned here at QJ.NET for the latest developments.

I wonder if we'll be seeing GH tabalature to create the songs, that would be cool.

...but I know I ain't forking out another $170 for more peripherals. Hopefully the RB drumkit works for this. All songs being master tracks is pretty badass

like rock music too much.. but I played guitar hero 3 and it was fun. Its just overall a fun game to play, and all of these features added will make it a pretty crazy game. Looks like its shaping up good so far.

I can't wait to play Band Hero 4 or Guitar Hero whatever it is. Tons of totally new never before seen features like drum and vocals! I'm glad we have companies like Red Octane thinking of all these innovative new features.

Yeah dude. Activision needs to make up their own ***** instead of stealing from Harmonix.
"Wasn't surprising that [Guitar Hero] has attracted imitators." LOL at Activision.

I might pick it up if my Rock Band stuff works, but judging by the fact that GH3 and RB don't allow you to use the other game's guitars, that seems unlikely.

Ok maybe it should be called rock band hero. I'll buy it if they make all the rock band peripherals work with GH4. They better make the rock band peripherals or they are going to see lots of pissed off people and people won't buy cause they don't want to fork over another 200 dollars.
