First pics of Xbox 360 and PS3 motion controller - Image 1Gametrak Freedom. I don't know about you, but I think Wiimote sounds catchier. Gametrak Freedom is the name of the new motion-sensing controller for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

That's a pic of it to the right (zoom in by clicking on it). It looks like, gee, hmm, I don't know... a Wiimote? It's a Wiimote recolor, that's what it is, with the buttons rearranged (so it won't be that obvious).

This Wiimote recolor Gametrak Freedom was made by In2Games, and the only known game it will work for is Squeeballs, which, by no coincidence, is also being developed by In2Games.

I don't know if Microsoft or Sony approve of the motion-sensing controller, but it may catch on, which would suck for Nintendo because it's probably the best thing it has going for it. In2Games isn't particularly shy of pitting its product against Nintendo's either, claiming that:

Unlike other motion sensing gaming systems, Gametrak Freedom accurately tracks the true 3D position and precise movements of up to four players, anywhere within a given environment, giving total control and unrivalled game play opportunities.

It's a frakkin recolor. If it's seriously that much better than the Wiimote, it had better detect the movements of my toe. Still, we'll see what it's capable of once it's released

A big thanks to ISOHaven for the tip!

 » Gah...

That thing looks horrid. Cant see it selling too well :

   Re: HakatoX - 2008-09-16
 » that's flawed logic.....

if looks actually weighed in the actual purchase (for most people) the PS3 and the 360 wouldn't sell.
I love both systems and own them both.... but they are very ugly designs.

I just think it is funny that you actually base it's selling potential on how it looks...... remember a saying about a book and it's cover?

Dont expect it take off. It's a third party gimmick that wont be supported. Which equals death.

 » This is ironic

If this thing does take off which I highly doubt, this will sell more on the 360. All PS3 controllers have SIXAXIS so what's the use. My dualshick3 gets the job done.

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

I look forward to the controllers and whatever some ingenious devs can cook up for it.

...gees, I'm going to need a bigger accessory draw. Between Nintendo's add-on for their controller, PS3 wireless Buzz controllers and now this!!!

That a microphone grill I see?

   Re: FreePlay - 2008-09-16
 » No.

It's a company logo.

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

I think he meant the big mesh grill on the front of the remote.

It's not a mic, this controller uses ultrasonic signals to see where it's at. So the front has to send and receive those signals.

IMO, this wont work for squat in some rooms. It'll be interesting to see how well this does.

 » mmm

one i dont approve of this,

1. its horrid
2. its doesnt seem to be wireles
3. nothing is innovative and really needs a rethought
4. just use the wiimote, the ps3 has the capability, add a kinda glovepie addition to a firmware, then they cant be sued by nintendo HEHE

also

"It's a frakkin recolor. If it's seriously that much better than the Wiimote, it had better detect the movements of my toe. Still, we'll see what it's capable of once it's released"

QJ sort yourself out, you never comment on a product unless you know the hardware and software behind it

it may look the same, and may do the same general thing

but how its implemented can change the accuracy and so much more

» what good was the Wiimote?

it only detects movements and tits. not full motion.

if im bowling, is it necessary for me to pretent and pose and swing like a bowler/tennis player/baseball? NO!! But millions think SO.

Oh ninty, marketing must be ur best friend.

MotionPlus? ...!!!

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

What exactly was the point? To compare this new product with the Wiimote? Why?

Sure you could just perform the movements with your had to play bowling but that would be awkward and pointless. There's more to it then flinging the remote from front to back.

I can also buy books on tape and never read either....again, what would be the point?

I can watch a play instead of being IN a play so why bother acting?

I could give a 4 year old a real gun so he wouldn't have to go bang bang bang with his finger.

Rockband, the drums could easily be played on the DualShock controller. Why the hell am I flinging my arms around and banging on plastic?

I believe, PLAYING and INTERACTING is the point.

 » Recolor?

Really how do you feel about the 360 controller, you must think that's just a recolor of the Duelshock, right. They even got rid of the black and white buttons in favor of a second set of shoulder buttons. Now that's a recolor. This thing dosen't even have a d-pad. The biggest problem I have with it is that it looks cool for a racing game, but I would rather use a wheel. For games that assign tasks to the d-pad, and motion to the stick, how would this work. You would be able to control your character, but not do any of the actions of the d-pad. It may still work on games were the d-pad and stick both move your character. But those games are becoming rare.
