For a FPS game to have this kind of button is rediculous.
I understand a use button, but fact being, if you cant jump, roll, and do the movements you want to unless your in a specific setting, then this will definitely be one of those factors that will bring game play down.
Like Splinter Cell, i hated the fact that I had to move near a vent, in order to get the option to go inside. Or I had to get very close to a character in order to put them in a headlock. It wasn't too much trouble on a PC but on the Xbox, it was a nightmare. All of my friends refused to buy the console version because of that flaw. Sometimes you would accidentally choose a different option on that list, or if your standing near a can on the ground you would pick up the can and not grab the guard.
Context Sensitive buttons are years behind in terms of FPS games. The graphics look great, but they could have easily just used the same control scheme as Halo/Halo2 to give the player more control.
i own gears of war and the context-sensitive A button has never been a problem. it has actually been a breath of fresh air after playing games like GRAW. and having to be near something to interact with it frustrates you? correct me if i'm wrong, but everybody knows mario has to be standing on a pipe to go down it, et cetera. maybe if you actually played gears of war before you start bringing it down you may actually understand yourself. plus fps means first person shooter. gears is clearly third person.
I did a whole story on it myslef plus a podcast and pics check it out if you like www.gaming-360.com
