Expectations skyrocketed when Peter Moore took the reins of Electronic Arts' EA Sports division, and it seems the former Microsoft big man won't disappoint. Not only does he intend to take on the world, he also plans to expand the company's library to make it more diverse and innovative.
"I feel great about our current line-up of franchises, but we’re also doing a number of things to diversify and expand our business," Moore said in an interview. EA Sports' head honcho stressed out that while games coming from his camp are innovative enough, they're going to capture a wider audience with more approachable and accessible products such as FaceBreaker.
When asked about his thoughts regarding negative criticism that EA Sports has been facing since its annual offerings are said to lack innovation, Moore answered to the contrary. "Nothing could be further from the truth... Quite frankly, I think many people who say our games aren’t innovative don’t actually play our games."
Moore noted recent new features that were introduced to EA Sports' franchises, like "Be A Pro mode in FIFA 08, the Skill Stick in NHL, and GamerNet in Tiger Woods." The prominent sports games developer and publisher's president believes that intelligent criticism would actually tell you that their products are too innovative - so much that the entry level is difficult to reach for those who aren't hardcore fans. To fix that, "Family Play" games and arcade titles in the veins of FaceBreaker will be hitting shelves in the future.
