It was bound to happen: First Xbox 360 Elite unboxing

Yup, it was all bound to happen. A new console gets released, and the first lucky ones take snapshots and of course, post it on the internet for everyone else to see... because you have to admit that them new consoles are darn purty. And so, as Dollfie collectors carefully unpack their latest toy and take photos (or videos) of the whole process, here comes the Elite.

In any case, one of the first few lucky ones who actually managed to get a unit this early, and post a batch of unboxing photos of the spankin' new Xbox 360 Elite, are the folks from GamePro.

As many of you may have noticed, some of the nicest things that come with the the Elite (aside from its 120 GB HDD and that gorgeous black finish, of course) would be the inclusion of an HDMI cable in the package, as well as the standard set of A/V cables, and a Hard Drive Transfer Cable. This last accessory allows you to transfer all of your data from your old Xbox 360 onto your Xbox 360 Elite, so you don't have to worry about losing all of your saved game data, as well as all of your stuff which you downloaded from the Marketplace.

On top of those things, there's also the Optical and Component Audio dongle which, according to GamePro, "allows you to use optical 5.1 audio, even if you're using HDMI for video." Then let's not forget about the sleek and neat matching headset which comes with the box, which of course go with black controller.

Well, with just a few more days before the Elite becomes available in North America, here's to hoping that you've already set aside the US$ 480 that you need to purchase this console.

Now, the next question is whether GamePro still thinks that this new Xbox 360 model isn't so "Elite", as well as if there will also be a host of camping-out videos within the next few days, and if that will soon be followed by videos and photos showing the Elite being dismantled, or just simply smashed into bits.

* Halo 3 will be humiliated first then trampled by Lair (cinema quality motion), Ratchet + Clank (Walt Disney meets Pixar), Warhawk (better than Unreal Tournament 3), Heavenly Word (next-gen God of War 3) and Killzone 2 (next-gen Half-Life 3). All these will be released in Jul to Sep. 2007.

* Halo 3 is NOT made from scratch. Halo 3 is an updated version of Halo 2 which was out in 2004 by using Renderware engine (confirmed fact; Bungie chose this method to save huge amount of development time and budget); therefore, Halo 3 is NOT a true next-gen title. Halo 3 can%u2019t even use X360 console%u2019s most power. Renderware is far inferior to other advanced engines such as, Source, Unreal, CryEngine, etc.

* This is why Crapalo (Halo) 3 looks like %u2018Halo 2.5 HD%u2019 in terms of graphics and gameplay (NO breakable buildings or vegetation, NO deformable objects, NO soft shadows, NO facial-animation, NO depth-of-field, NO motion blur, etc). The new Halo 3 alpha footage looks crappy. There're alpha footages of Gears of War and Resistance available online, unless you are blind, you must realize the fact that alpha builds look 90% same as the final versions.

* Halo 3's world is as shinny (bright, flashy with HDR lighting effects) as the one in Perfect Dark Zero. PDZ was the best looking game when it was released in 2005. PDZ and Kameo were made by Rare which is a subsidiary of Microsoft Game Studios (MGS, not the Metal Gear Solid). MGS also owns FASA (which makes Shadowrun) and Bugie (Halo 3). All these companies share all kinds of technologies (DirectX based) which are used to make X360 games. This is the biggest reason why Shadowcrap, Perfect Dark Crap, Kameo and Halo 3 have extremely similar graphical quality (artistic design).

* Bungie's officially announced in Nov. 2006 that Gears of War has very much superior graphics to Halo 3's final (retail) version (GameSpot%u2019s editor asked %u201CWhat game has better graphics, GoW or Halo 3?). If you know the definition of %u2018paraphrasing%u2019, above statement means %u201CHalo 3 will look very much inferior to GoW in the graphics department.

* Killzone 2 is built from scratch (true next-gen); therefore, KZ2 can use most potential power of PS3 hardware. Guerrilla which is a subsidiary of Sony has 120 employees (programmers and graphics designers). The total budget for KZ2 is $21 million (for your reference, Epic spent $9 m to make Gears of War with 80 devs).

* All Sony%u2019s internal developers and Sony%u2019s very close world class companies share all kinds of technologies which are used for making PS3 games (OpenGL based). These top developers are those companies which make games like: MotorStorm, Metal Gear Solid 4, Warhawk, Ratchet + Clank, Resistance, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, White Knight Story, Tekken 6, Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo 5, Virtua Fighter 5, Final Fantasy XIII, FF versus XIII, Lair, Uncharted-Drake's Fortune, Eight Days, Getaway, God of War 3, Jak and Daxter, Heavy Rain, Afrika, Home and of course Killzone 2.

Taking that into consideration, your saying that the 360 can easily render Halo 3's awe-inspiring graphics, and still have room for more, which meant that even better will become of the franchise. Just stop trying, fanboyism is worse than the ps3 itself.

Yes and PS3 has No games and PS3 is not selling and PS3 is a Movie player first etc, no one cares about what you think because all you say is negative anyone who posts sensibly would also show the positives of the 360 and why it is selling so well, and before you mention Japan lets remember that the PS3 is now down to 10,000 sales per week compared to Wiis 72,000 so it looks like PS3 is joining 360 in Japan and that is on its home soil, its in big trouble.

It's a xbox360 with a bigger HD and a HDMI port. Something the xbox360 should have had in the beginning. How can anyone get excited over this. All the bigger HD is really going to allow is storing more of those download based movies and TV shows which take forever to pull down anyways. What a waste to even get excited about. And nice black color too BTW, looks like someone is scard of the PS3.

tbh this thing called 360 elite is NOT elite.
ps3 is ELITE
360 hasnt been improved much over the 1st 360. wow hdmi 1.2 and 120gb hdd and its black.
i mean ps3 comes with built in wifi, hdmi 1.3, bluetooth (for bluetooth headsets, keyboards ect), other os, web browser, backwards compatible with ps1 and ps2 games, downloadable ps1 games from psn and playable on ps3, quiet, dont over heat, upgradeable hdd (360hdd =£100-110, ps3 120gb hdd =£43) huge diffrance
the list goes on and on
1 thing i want on the ps3 that the ps3 doesnt have yet is upscaler but the cell can easyly do it so thats not a big problem

backwards compatible? last i heard - only certain games [UK] - just like the X360 - why would u want to play old games anyway?

oh yeah 1 more thing: XBOX 360 has much better games! not those ***** Japanese games available 4 the PS3.

i totally agree. this is oviosly just an attempt to try to stand on even grounds with the ps3...... i mean if ms was really smart this shuda been the 1st thing to come out in the 1st place..sounds like really no research was done in the MS dept or they really forgot what the competition had.....ps3 is still the choice...the only way id uy one if it somehow had an insane gxf card that blew the ps3 out..but it still got a very short life ATI card which outdate faster than anything...n besides ati sucks
but i gota give props to ms for this...i have ps3 im not no haiter....but this wont make me get a 360 ever and besides the halo3 screens dont even look anything next gen look like halo 2.4 to me

the shocking thing is that the ps3 has the game grafix as the 360 but 360 been out 1year longer.
gow has gd grafix but crap gameplay.
halo is just a dumb game for dumb ppl like the americans. i cant c anythink decent about it.

but i don't hate the xbox. i am a big playstation fan, but this looks really cool. i just hate m$ because of the way they released it, everyone who has already invested time and money in their current xboxes may feel stuck if they want the new features. if all three would have been released at the same time it would have been better. i know the hdd can be upgraded but how difficult will it be to transfer your data? and you can't just go out and buy an hdmi port to stick in your system...

One thing I've noticed about fanboy owners of the PS3 and fanboy owners of the 360 just by reading this thread:

PS3 fanboys have some of the worst grammar and spelling out of anyone I've ever seen. Seriously. I can forgive it if you guys are five years old, otherwise you need to pay more attention in English class.

A lot of people have minor mistakes when posting...but Jesus Christ you guys look like brain dead idiots when you type like that. Keep in mind, that means that there isn't a single person with half a brain cell that will take you seriously, including me.

mate £32 a year for live = £160 for 5 years
the power consumption of the ps3 isnt much more than the 360 but its more i give u that but pc's waist a lot more since that have over 500w power supplys.
wifi i dont use it but if i didnt have my modem in my room i would have had 2 use it and wots the price of the wifi for 360 about £40-50?

other os 10gb is more than enuff

overheat - theres been loads of post ect on over heating and freezing and 3 red lights. the 360 was even on watch dog lol

backwards compatible? the eu ps3 has more backwards compatible games than the 360. u say who would play old games on a new console well i would. the other day i bought killzone 1 and i think its a brilliant game.

games. ok 360 has more games out now but if i recall correctly 360 come out 1 year before 360 and ps3 only come out in nov 06
if u mean 360 has better games (games that r comeing out soon or l8ter in the year) i think ps3 has the best ones. ppl have diffrent opinion on games. i like different games than other ppl . i just like the games on the playstation format
