Tomonobu Itagaki - Image 1There will be no more Ninja Gaiden games after Ninja Gaiden 2 for the Xbox 360. This was essentially what series creator Tomonobu Itagaki said in a recent interview with Kotaku.

"Personally I think we were able to create the definitive 3D game in this series so I'm not planing on making any other games in the series," Itagaki said. "So I hope fans treat this as a swan song for the franchise."

So what does the Team Ninja head honcho have planned as his next title? He said it "would be cool" to do something set in World War 2's Pacific Theater with an American developer; probably something that would show both sides of the war.

If a Japanese World War 2 game turns out to be too politically charged, Itagaki said that he might consider making a World War 2 game set in space instead.
