The PSP outselling the DS Lite in Japan is nothing new. But the Xbox 360? Sure, it has seen a bit of a surge in sales in Japan, but selling more units than the mighty DS Lite is practically unheard of. That is, until the DSi came along and kicked its older sibling in the nuts. The once-mighty DS Lite has finally fallen to the bottom of the Media Create hardware sales charts in Japan (not counting the PS2), selling only 8,381 units in the week of November 3 to 9. Should we start counting down the days until it sells less than the PS2 and, eventually, not being listed at all like the DS Phat? The reigning champ is still the brand spankin' new DSi for two weeks running, selling a total of 104,897 units. Sales of the DSi went down around 40% from the previous sales report, but that can be attributed to hardware shortages. The biggest jumper this time is the Xbox 360 with a 108.5% increase in sales. It still didn't quite catch up to the PS3's numbers (18,354 units sold for the PS3), but at 12,759 it's definitely creeping up. The Wii overtook the PS3 with 24,726 units sold and is now at third place. Second place still belongs to the PSP with 43,726 units sold. Related articles: |

It's amazing how 2 screens 1/4in bigger and 2 cameras get people to buy old hardware in a new package again.
Guess what? The games still suck.
The DS still has a N64 spec processor and resolution.

I like how you failed to mention everything else. But then again, you never do deal with facts.

» Here's some facts about the new DSi for ya
Here's the new Features:
1/4in bigger screens with (lower) 5th brightness setting.
2 - 640 x 480 resolution cameras for crappy photos, in either direction!
Basic recording and photo editing program.
Basic music player only plays AAC.
Access the new DSi shop with points separate from Wii points.
256MB internal flash memory! SD card cost - $5.
Here's the lesser known disadvantages of the new DS:
1. No GBA games anymore, because Nintendo no longer profits off their sale.
2. New charging port that needs new chargers.
3. Lower directional pad and buttons! Harder to press!
4. L and R buttons stick out more. Easier to break!
5. DSi has less battery life then DS lite at all brightness levels.
6. The DSi only has a 840mAh battery compared to 1000mAh for the DS Lite.
7. Priced at $185.85 in Japan, a 43% price increase over DS lite.
With all these disadvantages (and barely any improvements), it's still a #1 seller, go figure.

"Here's the new Features:"
You forgot about the upgraded audio which people have stated are MUCH better. So that's a major plus.
"1/4in bigger screens"
Major plus!
" with (lower) 5th brightness setting."
Major plus for me! Sometimes it's too bright and bugs people.
"2 - 640 x 480 resolution cameras for crappy photos, in either direction!"
640X480 is not crappy. Either way, the cameras are going to be for function, not photographers.
"Basic music player only plays AAC."
Better then nothing. iTunes anyone?
"Access the new DSi shop with points separate from Wii points."
MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR PLUS!!!!!
"256MB internal flash memory!"
Major plus for homebrew!!!! Also your $5 comment was idiotic at best.
"1. No GBA games anymore, because Nintendo no longer profits off their sale."
Now that you've made your usual douche bag comment, how about you also dicuss Sony no longer supporting the PS or PS2 in their new hardware.
"2. New charging port that needs new chargers."
You just described EVERY foreign company and Apple.
"3. Lower directional pad and buttons! Harder to press!"
That is a lie. Plenty reviewers have stated the buttons are "clickier" and more responsive.
"4. L and R buttons stick out more. Easier to break!"
They're already easier to break. Also, I doubt anyone has broken them yet so your OPINION is unfounded. Unless of course you are reffering to the ONE PERSON that broke their new toy?
"5. DSi has less battery life then DS lite at all brightness levels."
1. This is a little disppointing BUT well worth it for the larger screens
2. This is also based on SPEC runtime for the NDSL os which those SPECS are BS to begin with.
"6. The DSi only has a 840mAh battery compared to 1000mAh for the DS Lite."
Slimer unit and lighter. MAJOR PLUS!!!
"7. Priced at $185.85 in Japan, a 43% price increase over DS lite."
And? It's NEW, WTF did you expect? Free?
"With all these disadvantages (and barely any improvements), it's still a #1 seller, go figure."
The only thing that figures is all the crap you MAKE UP in your head.

Can't wait to get ahold of a DSi! already have a DS Lite just incase I need to play GBA on DS (Pokemon, think that's the only one I have).
Bigger screens and better, more responsive buttons (they are, I've used one). It's a really great update I just wish it had some kind of MP4/H264 player, or that one will be released in the app store. Where SD cards are about half that of a Memory Stick Pro Duo Alpha Ex Upper card I can afford to get a huge capacity one and ditch my PSP for video playback.

And what? From what I've seen the DSi is only $20 more than what the DS Lite is (was?). Where did that 43% increase come from

"Where did that 43% increase come from"
Who knows!? I didn't even bother looking it up. I know it costs more and that's to be expected.
He just pulls things out of thin air and expects people to believe everything he says.
The DSi is $180 US converted, but that doesn't mean squat. I heard it was going to be $150 for the US release. The NDSL was $130 when it came out so yeah, a $20 difference. Based on his BS 43% he thinks a NDSL costs $80.
gamestop.com tells us different. He must be looking at used on eBay as used on gamestop is still $100. $80 is for a used original DS and only that idiot would compare a used original DS with a brand new DSi.
Either way, he gave me a good laugh!!!

Here's some more interesting info that makes Mr. Douche look like a total TOOL!!!!
"The Nintendo DS Lite was released on March 2, 2006 in Japan, with the suggested retail price of ¥16,800"
That's $174 US dollars. Yet the unit was released for $130. So there's more support that the US release will be much less then $180.
(DSi) The system was first released in Japan on November 1, 2008 for ¥18,000.
So only 1,200 Yen difference which is $12 USD. NOT 43% like Mr. Douche LIED about.
At $12 difference from the original NDSL, that's $142. So that's probably where the $150 rumor came from.
Let's sit back and see what new MADE UP information he'll come up. It'll be funny to see how he excuses himself this time. I'm sure he'll try to explain how he was comparing the USED pricing of the old original DS and then explain how that is perfectly valid. Or maybe their is a TRU going out of business in his run down neighborhood and they have them on sale or something.

» When is Dsi out?
I am thinking about it. I don't care about the GBA game gone since most likely everyone do have a ds still. Camera is useless to me personally.. I wish my phone is cheaper without it. But the rest are ok. Battery is disappointing since you take all that room out of the GBA slot and you can't give a bigger battery?!

I believe the best estimate for the US is Summer of '09
"Battery is disappointing since you take all that room out of the GBA slot and you can't give a bigger battery?!"
Well, the new one is slimmer because of it. A bigger battery would have meant higher cost. I agree, more play time would have been better.

The FACTS are, that's the price in Japan compared to what a DS lite sells for.
"The DSi is $180 US converted, but that doesn't mean squat. I heard it was going to be $150 for the US release"
Wow you just confirmed what I said. But somehow I'm lying. What you heard is proof of nothing. Nintendo has not announced a US price yet, dumbf*ck (I'm running out of words to express your stupidity.)
You're still here promoting Nintendo's new cash cow? Why don't you at least try to get laid or something? Nevermind, we all know you're ugly, obese, and have the personality of an 8 year old.
Well, you could at least pay for sex! Maybe then you wouldn't be so angry!

Are you insane? You said a 43% price increase. If it sells for $150 THAT IS NOT A 43% price increase.
Who do you think you are fooling?
"What you heard is proof of nothing. Nintendo has not announced a US price yet, dumbf*ck (I'm running out of words to express your stupidity.)"
And? I also gave the price in Yen. THERE IS NO 43% price increase.
So you came back and responded for what? To make yourself look like an even bigger idiot?
"Well, you could at least pay for sex! Maybe then you wouldn't be so angry!"
Yup, I guess so. Once FACTS prove you wrong, you only have BS like this to say.
