Jump into the fray!

If you're a Halo 3 fan and you think that it's unfair that U.S. soldiers in Iraq get to beta test the game before you do, then it's time to don that Master Chief helmet. Bungie and Microsoft are giving you two other options at getting a chance to join the multiplayer beta testing this Spring: either you qualify over XBL and be among the first 13,333 Halo 2 gamers to register for the "Rule of Three" program early this February at their official Halo3.com website, or you can simply buy Crackdown when it hits retail on February 20.

The first option would require you to participate at least three hours in Halo 2's "Rule of Three" program between February 1 (12:01 a.m., EST) and February 3 (11:59 p.m., EST) and make sure you fill into the aforesaid "13,333" qualification. Aside from this, you'd have to make sure that you're at least 17 years old with access to an Xbox 360 Pro or Core console, a valid XBL Gold membership, and, of course, a copy of Halo 2.

The second option, though, is left a bit more on chance and some special hunting skills. You'd have to be fast as to find and purchase "marked" boxes of Crackdown that will include the invites to participate in the beta tests. Once you do get your copy, all you have to do is load the disc and use it as a key to download the beta from XBLM.

Simple enough, eh? The first beta sign ups was a sure success (despite the site bog down), and on top of the 140,000 people who've already been able to register back then, there's definitely more room for some Brutish loving and an additional 13,333++ gamers ready for an FPS orgy.

 » Rule of Three?

That sounds really sketchy. I hope Bungie is more specific about this. So I play three hours between those two days? Surely that alone doesn't register me. What else do I have to do? Is this 3 hours of actual gametime, or 3 hours does that count waiting for a game? For that matter, does singleplayer count?

Furthermore, how plentiful are these Marked Crackdowns? Whats the ratio of marked to unmarked?

I need questions answered. I must get into this Beta.

In the few weeks coming up, Microsoft will give out details on who either made it for the original 144,000 spots (December 12th Halo3.com regristrations I believe) If you have already tried to regrister the first day, you might either get an email or get a list of gamertags that are able to participate in the Beta.
The Rule of Three is where you participate in the MatchMaking on that day between those hours and then go BACK to Halo3.com and try to regrister. You have to enter in your GamerTag. If you are one of the first 13,333 people to try to regrister, you are in. I don't know much about the whole CrackDown way to get into the beta.

EBStop is offering the crackdown deal to all reserves (in store and online) if you order the game online you get the beta code. if you put at least $5 down at your local EBStop you get the beta code. if you do neither there is the 13,333 spots or having the luck to get one of the last remaining copies at some store. here's a link to the gamestop websitewith the information
