Bioshock - Image 1First off, it must be said that there will be no PS3 version for Bioshock, as Ken Levine makes clear. Also, he assures the "pissed off" owners of Bioshock who have some problems with installing the game on their PC that patches are in development.

Joystiq talked to Levine directly to get that info. Levine, lead designer for Bioshock, explains that he is aware of the problems Bioshock has on the PC. He expresses that there were indeed "screw ups" with the game's online copy protection verification. The issue being faced is that the game can only be installed twice and nevermore.

The problem stemmed from the developers not expecting that the game would become such a hit. So when the requests came in for verification, the server simply crashed. Levine explains that they will eventually remove the verification process.

As for the rumors circulating about Bioshock coming to the PS3, Levine leaves no room for doubt when he commented:

I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft ... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery.

 » HUSH U DAMN RIGHT!

Microsoft will payoff if the games look wicked...when it comes to good games microsoft will make sure it comes on there platform. Expect games like MGS4 and maybe Tekken to go the same way, maybe a little help from bill gates pocket.

 » Works both ways

What a great game it is to, its a pity its not going to the PS3 but at the end of the day you know that if it wasnt about the money MGS4 would be coming to the 360 so it works out bad for both consoles but there you go..

 » Short version

SecuRom: Sucks.

I use Linux, I don't want to fight with the problems that Wine or Cedega would give me with Bioshocks Securom.

I have a 360, not gonna buy it out of principle.

I have a PS3, can't buy it.

I have a Wii, don't give a damn at this point.

In short: Securom sucks and they lost at least one sale because of the anti-consumer protections included in the product.

» YOU CAN INSTALL MORE THEN 2 TIMES!

You can install it more then 2 times. You just have to make sure it gets uninstalled from the original computer(s) before you install it on a new one.
This meaning can have the game actively installed on 2 computers at any one moment in time. If you uninstall it from comp 1 you can now install it on comp 3 and still have comp 2 running Bioshocky goodness.

 » Incorrect information man...

If you actually go to 2k forums, there's a lot of complaints from fans who can't install it more than twice. Even after they uninstall it.

But anyway, Ken Levine said they would fix the issue by allowing up to 5 pc instead of two... some other stuff I can't remember as well.

» 360 has better games face it

bioshock is fact a brilliant game now i only got it yesterday like everybody else did but gears of war would not beat bioshock by far and thats true ps3 version not a chance in getting this game excuse me for my language but ps3 is completely and utter ***** no offence or anything but this christmas line up 360 wins it without a doubt with games and who gives a ***** about graphics its all about gameplay thats more important. Look 360 got a head start so it would have better graphics than the ps3. hooray for 360 fans im one and i proud of it .

» So many great games released on the same day and the Elite to

Its an amazing game, the only annoying thing for me is that they released Two other great games on the same day, Blue Dragon and Moto Gp 07, I brought the Elite and Bioshock yesterday so I couldnt afford the other Two games....

» not gonna turn this into a flame war

But am I the only one who doesn't really think this game is particularly special?

I downloaded the 360 demo, the graphics aren't really anything great (though I admit the water is fantastic), and the weapons set is seemingly mediocre, though your powers are pretty cool.

I just don't see the necessity for the buzz. Before anyone bashes me, I'm hooked up to a 1080p plasma, I just didn't think the character models and colors were all that well done or realistic. Gears still looks better.

» Minority opinion but thats not a bad thing

Everyone has their own opinion on games just that your opinion of Bioshock must be a very small minority as it looks like it has proberly sold a million all ready I bought it myself and I just cant believe how good it is but you seem more interested in graphics than gameplay but whatever.

Just like Halo3 and MGS4 a lot of people wont think much of them but thats what its all about otherwise we would all just get 1 type of game.

   Re: Halo (Unregistered) - 2007-08-25
 » You are correct

Bioshock is a crappy game. Not smooth on 360, have heard that a top-end PC is what's required to see the game as it's supposed to be.

   Re: chaosnstride (Unregistered) - 2007-08-25
 » agree

I definately agree that Bioshock got over-rated. It just seems to happen that way when there havent been any real great games this year. I thought the graphics were pretty good, but the gameplay was OK at best. Maybe I just think FPS' should be a hard game, and BS was too easy of a game to run through?

   Re: Jon (Unregistered) - 2007-08-25
 » ..

I don't know yet, but i dont think this game is ment to run thru, so what i understand is that if you expect it to be a fps it probably suck but if you expect it to be an adventure then it's on another level.. correct me if i'm wrong..

   Re: . (Unregistered) - 2007-08-25
 » Apparently, you are

BioShock is one of the highest rated games of the new millennium.

And they're not undeserved, BioShock is one of the best games I've played of the new millennium. I haven't liked a game this much since Deus Ex.

The guy above is right, if you run through everything like an idiot then it's just alright, but if you spend the 20+ hours it takes to explore and find everything (especially the audio diaries that really build the story) then it's as amazing if not better than its "spiritual predecessor" System Shock 2.

 » Geo

People, be patient, newer games will be coming to PS3 that are no less decent than what the 360 is getting...c'mon, look back when 360 is in the summer of 06, the same time period that PS3 is in right now, how many decent games were there? Can you honestly say there's a lot...when 360 games first roll out it wasn't until Gears...which is when the PS3 comes out, the winter of 06. People, the 360 didn't get Gears until a year after it's released...and PS3 will get triple A games around that...even later than that, its acceptable because PS3's potential needs time to be tapped.
