It was one of those "wish we were there" moments: the Lost Planet launch shindig in San Francisco. Capcom's pictures from the event kinda only exacerbates the feeling, although it also gives us a good look of what happened at the party. No fetch celebs were spotted at this launch party (from what we could tell from the photos anyway), but lots of pics of lots of people having a blast, losing themselves in E.D.N. III. Lost Planet community blogger Brian Dunn was also kind enough to give a thorough account of the party.

Aside from the mandatory food and drinks, DJ at the turntables, mandatory ice sculptures (more so, given how cold E.D.N. III is), and a rock-climbing area (with Anchors?), there were two highlights of the launch party which Brian touched on. The first was this "awesome" Lego Vital Suit, created by Nathan Sawaya. For a kid who grew up eating Legos for lunch, awesome indeed! Will Lego come out with a Lost Planet-themed set from this inspiration? (Next up: Lego Lost Planet: The Video Game!!!)

Next would be the "main event" of the entire party, which was the massive multiplayer tournament. Brian says that approximately 180 people competed for the coveted chance to take on the Lost Planet dev team - including Keiji Inafune, Jun Takeuchi, and Kenji Oguro - in a team match. And guess what: the 8 lucky gamers who came out on top managed to beat the devs in their own game! The winning team expressed their admiration at the devs' teamwork skills, though. And good people that they are, the devs decided to stick around and let other gamers have their shot against them, too. Of course, they won every match after that, Brian says.

Of course, the Capcom pics we've posted up are only a small taste of one happenin' party. The link below takes you to more gamers, more devs, and more ice sculptures.
