The UK is once again infatuated with Mario. It must be his mustache and piercing blue eyes. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games managed to stay on top of the UK Charts on and off for four months, I wonder how long Super Smash Bros. Brawl will manage to do so. It already beat Metal Gear Solid 4's track record on top of the UK Charts. Speaking of MGS4, the game is nowhere to be found on the top 10, and neither is Grand Theft Auto IV. MGS4 has dropped down to 15th place, while GTAIV is found on the 13th. You can't mess with Mario. Lego Indy keeps its spot on third place. Here are the rest of the top placers in the UK for the week ending on July 5.

I've been playing games since the late 80's, got hooked on games and now work in the industry. I've had all the mainstream consoles and handhelds. It doesn't surprise me that Brawl is doing this well. Hands down the most fun game I've ever played, and that's not a comment being made lightly.
Even the single player is pretty good. Soundtrack is one of the best I've heard, so many memorable tracks remixed right. Online could be better but meh. Don't think I've played any other game since Brawl's UK launch.
In no way is this surprising. MGS4 is. Thought that might have lasted a bit longer in the charts. GTA IV has already had its run. Just needs that DLC to freshen it up again.

I guess its great with the younger age group and those who barely played melee, but competition-wise melee was a better game and also provided a learning curve separating the great players from the "noobs." brawl is too user friendly and any button masher can win a competition. feel free to criticize but thats my two cents.

The game only has a slightly slower pace when fighting in the air, this is to open up air combat which Melee (I was a competitive Melee player) didn't pull off too well. The better pacing lets you get proper strategy into the game - the absolute polar opposite of button mashing. Take Ike; if you button bash with him you're going to lose. ANY of the upper tier characters would have a new player constantly losing.
I'm noticing a trend amongst certain players, those who usually instantly dismiss Brawl and claim it to be dumbed down. I'd put money on them just not liking Brawl/having something against Nintendo and never even playing the game... It's getting quite evident.
I also was going to criticise your feebly constructed points with or without your permission.

The Wii is making the industry better. Not seen the sales charts comparing each gen? The 360 and PS3 are failing to match their previous systems sales and attach rates. Blame it on PC gaming but it looks as if people don't care for them systems, exactly the first signs of the 80's gaming crash. Metal Gear is anything but limited you crazy woman! It sold very well in all three major regions ! Not to mention that they are being bundled with ps3's and REAL records have shown an increase of 200% percent in sales . Now is
that as limited as the space in those old 8gb DVD's you call "Games" for your wii? To me the only thing new and good the Wii has is the controls and online play (if you can find a decent online game) .

Yeah I know what they can store. Games like Gta and oblivion are the shiznit . But my beef is not with the Xbox I love it too. MGS is the only "exclusive" title to got a perfect score but still not the only exclusive out there. I don't give a crap what "reviewers" think, I play the games I WANT . SCREW them and you! I'm tired of "gamers", telling me what im " supposed" to like. F' U!

Of note, HD textures and video are the biggest space wasters on modern games. Since the Wii doesn't require HD textures or videos it saves a LOT of space.
Yeah I know what they can store. Games like Gta and oblivion are the shiznit . But my beef is not with the Xbox I love it too. I hate the Wii and the Wii will never get these good examples you gave because you will have plenty of plumber boy going down to clean your pipe? right?!? yeah so the Wii " saves alot of space " you say ? Actually saving "space" for the Wii can be a both good and bad for a game . Not to mention it might sacrifice the over all " sharpness" or quality of the game . To each his own , leave me alone. You can argue back all you want, you're entitled to your opinions. I'm not denying that and you're free to continue with your opinions and thoughts. My problem was with you claiming incorrect information as "fact". For example - the only way the PS3 will be able to catch up with the Wii is if the Wii is no longer sold for 1.8 months and the PS3 sales accellerate exponentially. Such an event would require an MGS4 hyped game every month.

as many exclusives as the wii has, not many of them are really good. mario kart is the same as the rest, every game that required techniques nintendo took out them like in mario kart ds. they took out snaking. in ssbb they took out wavedashing and some of the competition gameplay. they slowed it down. id still have to say that the ps3 dominates in the better exclusives. 360 has what halo 3 (failure) gears of war (only fun for awhile) and they just now got UT3 after like 7 months. and they only added two maps and took out mods. With games like resistance (better cause there isnt that noob feel of autoaim) mgs4, Haze, and couple of other ones.(too lazy to look at my collection) id say that it dominates. im not saying 360 sucks but with that kind of console they focus too much on graphics and to little on gameplay. SSBB was fun but gets boring after awhile, and everything with the plumber in it is getting annoying.
