Mario, Sonic still surpass CoD4 in Chart Track on Feb. 23 - Image 1

As Epic Games' Unreal Tournament III tries its luck in the European market, SEGA's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games continues to grab gamers by the thousands. As both the DS and Wii versions rank top two of the most sold games by units, Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) charges in to number two. Nintendo's Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training holds third spot after leaping four places up Chart Track UK's top ten for the week ending February 23, 2008.

Capcom's Devil May Cry (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) drops two spots to sit waveringly at number four, but didn't affect non-mover Nintendo's Wii Play at fifth place. Midway Games' Game Party achieves a nine-place jump to six and is the week's best leapfrogger at the top ten.

Disney Interactive's Turok (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) falls four places to number seven, while FIFA 08 matches numbers with the eighth spot. Epic Games' Unreal Tournament III for the Sony PS3 debuts in the UK at ninth place, kicking Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game to number ten. one should always remember that the ds/wii are budget platforms.
the majority of people who play these kiddy games, only do so for 1-5 hours per week.

they are not gamers.
they are a new hybrid, whom i have been referring to as "casual kiddies"

you can't really compare a party game sold on a gimmick console, to quality in-depth games.

small things please small minds.

It's the only way a crap game like this sells. I've played it. It's mario party extreme light with sonic characters! In just about all of the games teh total controlls involve moving the controller up and down fast and then hitting a button at the end. BORING.

such jealousy. instead, why not be thanking nintendo for expanding the industry. without the sales of these titles, companies would bankrupt from the ridiculous cost of games this generation.

 » expanding the industry?

Maybe to include non gamers and idiot gamers. Here's how Nintendo is ruining the game industry:

#1. Introduce a console that sells for far more than production costs with minimal improvments. Fake supply shortages and stretch them out for years to increase demand and eliminate the need for price cuts. Even go so far as to say competitors "erred" in making expensive yet value priced high performance consoles.

#2. Release first party games that have minimal improvments over the last versions on the last system. Recycled graphics, characters, and levels. Just add online play (which should have been in the Gamecube versions) more characters, and levels. Bam! A "new" game you can sell millions of for full price.

#3. Introduce add ons like Wii fit that have no fitness benefits and use marketing gimmicks to fool people into thinking its a fun fitness activity to stand in certain positions as moron Miamoto does on his bath scale.

#4. Offer downloadable games, but unlike competitors' games, these are old console games with no changes. Then pay a minimal amount to the corporate owned studio that bought out the original studio 10 years ago and keep millions in profit for doing nothing.

#5. No need to encourage much third party development. After all, that could hurt the first party game sales and Ninty is making over $100 for each console sold.

I think everything Nintendo is doing is hurthing the industry. If Nintendo keeps their cheap, greedy, lazy habits, I see all games will have minimal effort put into them and other tricks used to get games to sell like Nintendo uses. No more big budget quality games, just a bunch of stupid recycled mascot games, minigames, and games relying on gimmicky controllers in the future.

If Nintendo can re-sell the same crap 2-5 times and make a fortune, why wouldn't other companies want to follow suit?

everything on the 360 and ps3 are the same things we've been playing for the last 10 years only better graphics. the wii is the only one with something fresh. the cost of the industry has sky rocketed, and without a larger gamer base, the industry would crash and burn, core gamers are not enough. im a die hard game player, and i have all 3 consoles. so far ive logged 10 times the amount of hours into the wii than the others.

online play? media players? PSP connectivity? DVD player? (Wii still can't do that for some reason.) true surround sound? voice chat? downloadable content? NEW downloadable games? No, only the Wii can offer something new.

Wow, Nintendo has a new controller and recycled everything else (except the price.)
