Microsoft debunks Xbox 360 Blu-ray console rumor - Image 1A few days ago, we reported on the rumor that Microsoft has plans of shipping out the Xbox 360 Blu-ray console. The reason being is that the company filed orders to Pegetron Technology to assemble the said unit, as reported by Digitimes.

Furthermore, information was released that the said soon-to-be-assembled console was set to ship out by the third quarter of this year.

Regarding this issue, Microsoft has finally released an official statement to straighten things up. The company said in an email to GamePro:

As we have stated, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360. Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available.

Hopefully, with the words that have been released, you guys can put your wondering minds at ease. We'll keep you guys updated with more information related to this matter. Don't forget to check up on this space frequently for that.
