Microsoft Xbox 360 - Image 1The Xbox Live service has seen the largest sign-up of new users during the recent holiday season. Apparently, this is also the reason for the connection problems members of the community were complaining about.

To celebrate the new record set and thank the players for their patience, Microsoft has announced that it will be giving away a free Xbox Live Arcade game.

This announcement was made by Xbox Live General Manager Marc Whitten. He posted an open letter on the official website Xbox.com to inform the community about the free game and details of the connection problems.

It might be good to know that in the letter, Whitten thanked the community for their patience and understanding regarding the Xbox Live problems. He added that, "while the service was not completely offline at any given time, we are disappointed in our performance."

No details have been announced yet regarding how players will be getting their free game as of yet. However, Whitten mentioned that more information about this offer will be released in the coming weeks.

QJ.NET would like to thank TheSilenceOfNoOne for the tip!

I hope it's a good XBLA title and not some crappy one that has been on XBLM forever

Is it only for Xbox Live Gold members, or are Silver members involved? lol

 » Nice

I couldn't connect for several days. I'm glad they're gonna try to make it up to us, but if it's a crappy game, I'm gonna be ticked off still. So here's hoping they don't give away one of the lame little games no one is buying anyways or something.

 » Well

The last time they gave away a game, it was Carcassone, and that is a game not many people were buying, but it is a great game.

 » as everyone's stated

yeah I hope it's a good one. And I hope that if one already has bought the game they will give you another or the equivalent point value.

I didn't mind not having MP sometimes, but losing your gamertag in Cyberlimbo because "recovery" isn't working really sux.
