Hop on to those snowmobiles! When Activision said Modern Warfare 2 would be so big it could match up against other franchise giants in the entertainment industry, they weren't kidding. It's gonna be so huge, the recent 15-second teaser trailer looks to be the tip - no, the top-most snowflake's tip, rather - of an iceberg. As such, we've got more info for you guys to mull over this snowstorm of a game. These details come from the latest issue of Game Informer, where they've got a full 10-page feature on Modern Warfare 2. Here's just a quick summary of their coverage:

I was hoping the campaign would be fully coop but I suppose you can't complain if it has a coop mode. Maybe they'll do another Nazi Zombie style game :) Like...Terrorist Zombie or...Snow Zombies...from space!

I'm glad it's not fully coop with special levels thrown in for this purpose.
I've said it before, you can either make a level awesome for coop or awesome for single player, but incredibly rarely does it ever work out well for a hybrid level.
Gears of War - AWESOME coop game. Meh single player. Resident Evil 5 - AWESOME kill that zombie over there while I take care of this one coop. Sheva, please stop being retarded coop.

Stealth is cool, but it tends to be a pain in FPS games.

"We can bet that IW would never put coop into a game they make. At least Treyarch listens to what we want."
Here's the difference though, IW actually creates their games from scratch. Treyarch comes in and regurgitates what IW has done in a different environment, so of course they will have time to add a few extra things. Still though, personal opinion here, Cod4>WaW.
Back on topic; I love the "live patching" idea. This is long overdue for multiplayer games. I expect nothing less than spectacular for this next installment (so i may be disappointed).

CoD5, in no shape or form, was like CoD4. The only similarities were that the games shared the same engine and gameplay, just like the ENTIRE FRIGGIN' SERIES. Treyarch does 3 and 5, and somehow they're piles of crap, when the series began as a WW2 shooter.
If they did anything too different, you and the rest of the CoD4 kiddies would cry about it then too. Friggin' commoners.

@ NarooN
*****, you've got some serious CoD issues there NarooN. We've briefly discussed it once already.
Why so much anger over it? Why do you think only kiddies play it? What is a 'real' FPS (from your other post)? What's with calling people commoners?
Your posts are always entertaining to read though: Eg. "CoD5, in NO shape OR form, was like CoD4. The only SIMILARITIES were [emphasis added]..."
Genius lol!

Glad someone can notice my cynical humor on here, Matt. Yes, that contradiction was done on purpose. I don't really get angry as it may seem, but it's just an inside joke with my entire clan. We always bash the hell out of the series for anything it's done. We played the series itself so much, actually since part 1 that we just got bored or something.
But yeah, I still don't think CoD4 and everything after it is a true competitive FPS. The sheer ease of the gameplay just cancels out any sort of skill that would be required.

Spawning issues (i.e. constant enemy spawning until you reach a certain marker in the map) from CoD4 have been taken into consideration and will be worked on for MW2.
About damn time

As was stated, games can either go great solo or great coop. There are rare exceptions of games that do both but they're very rare. IW wants to tell a compelling story again. And to do that they'll need to stick with a solo campaign. Remember in CoD4 when the nuke explodes and your helicopter crashes and you crawl out? Remember thinking that you were going to get up eventually and start running and gunning? Imagine a situation like that with a friend and you instantly lose all kind of suspense and shock of dying. It just becomes some scene you wait through before you get to the gameplay again.
At least they're including missions that will house coop which is a good sign, there will probably be a lot of game modes other than campaign and versus which will be interesting for a CoD game.
Lastly, you would have to be blind not to see World at War for just CoD4 in a different environment...with tanks. Treyarch does not produce original things. They piggy back off past success so they can't really screw up, and then they add some features that people wanted so they can call it a new game. IW is the studio that takes chances with new things so what we're seeing is the next step in the franchise. This doesn't mean they'll never give us coop they just didn't focus on coop for this campaign, instead they focused on a single player experience.
