Activision is positively raking in the dough in the wake of Modern Warfare 2's release. Biggest entertainment launch of all time? Could be. In the UK alone, the game has already sold more than a million copies in a single day.

GfK-ChartTrack data puts the game's first day sales in the UK at 1.23 million copies, almost double the number of units that Grand Theft Auto 4 moved on its UK launch. MCV estimates that the sales figure represents a Modern Warfare 2 copy in every 24 UK homes.

Not bad for a "shocking" and "repulsive" game. Modern Warfare 2 is out now on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Yeah it was crazy the amount of people in my local town at midnight, and even more suprising they weren't drunk and smashing things.

I'm not sure where the sales were made, but if it sold well at the shops charging normal price of 55 pounds this will only let Activision know it's OK to charge more for big releases in the UK.

Maybe it's not a big deal, might be inevitable that game prices will go up anyway. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see games in the US have a normal price of $70 and UK normal price of 50 pounds. Ridiculous, but people will prob still buy them
