Two new maps for Halo 2: Desolation and Tombstone - Image 1Two new maps for Halo 2: Desolation and Tombstone - Image 2

Let's take a few steps from Halo 3 and all the beta testing updates for a while and talk about Halo 2. Why? Well, we just thought you'd be interested to know that Bungie Studios just released two new maps for the almost three year old sci-fi FPS video game. The maps are Tombstone and Desolation (remakes of Hang 'Em High and Derelict respectively) and will be available for download via XBLM by April 17.

But first, some reminders: these are for Halo 2 which was released on the original Xbox console, but as you all know, Xbox1 discs are compatible with the Xbox 360 as well. Also, instead of using MS points, you can use a credit card for the purchase. The pair of maps cost US$ 4, and will be available to Xbox Live Gold members.

As we've mentioned earlier, Tombstone is actually a remake of Hang 'Em High - arguably the most popular multiplayer map for the original title. All familiar spots will be present but graphics have been upgraded, of course. Bungie also said that there are certain new features and surprises that were incorporated as well.

Desolation, on the other hand, is pretty much the same as Derelict. It is a symmetrical, Deathmatch-oriented map with, like Tombstone, new graphics. Effects and gameplay also received a major overhaul. Bungie promised that it is now faster-paced and more balanced than the original version.

 » not too smart

everyone is used to using microsft points to buy thing and this requires a credit card

i guess people won't be getting it til its free

cause i know they won't make a map pack for 2 maps

Please think before posting fool. You do not have to input a credit card number to download Halo 2 maps through its downloader, simply sign in to your XBL account on Halo 2 then go to the downloader and bam. Same as MP points

And even if you did, wtf would be the big deal? Unless you're some little kid whose parents don't trust with the credit card for every little thing (which also means don't play Halo 2 in the first place, you'd make the game better for everyone else), what's hard about getting the card and putting in 16 numbers?

OMGOMGOMG HANG EM HIGH!!!!!!! The god of Halo maps is back! I wonder what it'll be like without fall damage and such. And without the pistol. Oh well, do BR start and it should still be fun (hopefully in Halo 3 there will be options to turn on/off fall damage, turn on/off invincible vehicles, turn on/off infinite grenades etc.) Derelict is great too, I'll gladly pay the paltry sum of $4 for these.

 » yes

yes i figured out 2 super bounces on tombstone and i could find any on desolation. but only one super bounce on tombstone is worth it to use, one sends you pretty much no were and the other will put you on top of the big tower at the red building. either one would bounce you out of the map but you die as soon as you try.

ne1 want to learn them add me
