Traditionally, console and video game sales have a tendency to spike during the Thanksgiving week. The same can be said about this year as seen by the numbers released by both Nintendo and Microsoft.

From all indications, Nintendo came out the big winner selling 350,000 Wii consoles as well as 653,000 Nintendo DS Systems. The company pointed out that they sold "more Nintendo products than at any other time in its history."

Microsoft on the other hand was not far behind. They sold over 310,000 Xbox 360s during the week of Thanksgiving. The company even said that it outsold the PlayStation 3 at a ratio of two to one.

Sony has decided not to release the exact number of consoles they sold stating that their policy is not to disclose their unit sales numbers "until NPD numbers are officially released." However, they did say that Microsoft's estimates on the PS3 sales are "way off."

Nintendo looks to have maintained their lead in the console wars, though it seems that the Xbox 360 is catching up. Too bad Sony declined to release their sales figures since it would have been interesting to see how the PlayStation 3 is stacking up with the rest of the competition.
