The Opus motherboard in the wild? - Image 1Those folks interested in the hardware of the Xbox 360 may get a kick out of this next report we have. A poster on the Xbox-Underground forums by the name of Electric Tuner has put up a picture of what he claims is the Opus Xbox 360 motherboard.

The Opus motherboard is essentially a motherboard from the Falcon generation of motherboards that lacks an HDMI port. It features a a 65nm CPU and 90nm GPU.

What's interesting about this motherboard showing up now is that this picture is supposed to be of a motherboard from a recently repaired Xbox 360. If the story of the Opus holds true, it means that repaired consoles should, ideally, now be less likely to get a red ring of death.

 » Wow

Heaven forbid Microsoft rewards its users for putting up with its shoddy hardware by just giving them an HDMI port that probably cost more to REMOVE...

It think it's a version meant for people who own non-HDMI 360s.

Still, MS should replace those with HDMI 360s at the least, considering all the trouble their terrible hardware has caused.

 » how do you

How do you tell if it's the Opus?

I just got mine repaired again for the 9th time (I had to pay this time as well).

But they fixed the GPU, so I'm not sure if they replaced the mobo. They also put in a benq and replaced my modded hitachi.

So if I know how to check, I'll post back here and let you know if I got one as well.
