Wonder how this would work if MS is the publisher? I wouldn't be surprised if MS had publishing rights to the trilogy. So I'm not sure how EA could break that if MS holds them to that contract.
I think the best possible case for PS3 owners is that they get ME2 & ME3. I cant see how EA could get MS to distribute the original on a Sony platform.
i used 2 believe what this guy had 2 say but he has 2 be retarded this is PUBLISHED BY MICROSOFT THAT MEANS THEY FUNDED GAME DEVELOPMENT EVERY PENNY IT TOOK 2 MAKE THE GAME M$ PAID 4 IT, PART 1 WILL NEVER COME TO THE PS3,ITS LIKE UNCHARTED COMING 2 THE PS3 IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN
Uncharted is already on the PS3.
I think he meant "uncharted will never be released on 360"
if they do that i do hope they do something about the loading time.
hopefully Blu Ray and the presence of a harddrive in every PS3 console will help them achieve that.
Your comment is just retarded. There is no problems with load times in this game.
but this is actually one of the 360 games that i actually played... and it has very long load times...
especially since when i played it i was playing uncharted too which has zero load times... and i'd want that to be the case if ever they were to decide (which is unlikely) to release ME in the PS3 cause the load times of the game are so long...
i didn't say the game sucked, in fact i liked it... but if they are moving it over to the PS3 then they should do something about the load times cause it can be done, is there something wrong with me saying they should maximize what the PS3 can provide? personally i see nothing wrong with that.
If ME was to come to the PS3 (which I doubt, but we'll see), I doubt there's much they can do about the load times. Blu-ray wouldn't help because it's slower than the 360's DVD drive, therefore it will depend on HDD use alone, which will require the option of dumping much of the game on the HDD (but is that really a good option?).
i'm not really a techy but as i understood uncompressed data allows for lesser load times in games, as such the greater capacity of Blu Ray might be able to allow this...
just correct me if i'm wrong.
It's actually the reverse.
Uncompressed data is much bigger, and therefore takes longer to load.
The speeds of optical discs are such that even if you compress data, you can usually decompress them into memory much faster than you can load the equivalent size data from optical disc.
Hence compressing data is actually a means of improving performance.
So whilst Blu-ray has the space to store more data, it doesn't mean the files will be uncompressed. For example, if a texture file is uncompressed, then it may be 2 to 6 times bigger, meaning it will take 2 to 6 times longer to load.
Uncompressed data is only suitable for streamed content, such as audio for cutscenes.
Sorry I dunno why but i was thinking about Bioshock when I posted the no problems with load times.
Don't blame the 360 for bad load times, because games like Bioshock are just as and even more detailed than Mass Effect and have no problems. You could probably point the blame at Epic who was too busy trying to getting UE3 PS3 games to launch on time, a few weeks later than, or at least before the end of the year.
thanks for clearing that up...
anyway the game is AAA (coming from a PS3 fanboy who never admits to anything good on the 360)... if the sequel is a 360 exclusive then i might get myself an xbox for it (probably be cheap by then) unless my brother goes on a holiday again and he leaves his 360 with me again...
Devise... i played Bioshock but i didn't finish it, reason is i put in Mass Effect and then just started playing that game over Bioshock (never was a first person guy).
BioWare owns the IP to Mass Effect, not Microsoft. This means that it can be made for the PS3 if they so chose to. I'm sure EA would say it as a very profitable venture, especially if they consider making the entire Mass Effect trilogy (if I have it right) multiplatform. Of course, the problem with that is you have to adjust for the lowest common denominator, aka developing for the DVD over BluRay, which in my opinion is just hurting the gaming industry (I own an Xbox 360 and PS3 and enjoy both, so don't give me that "fanboy" bull). If they do happen to put it exclusively on the Ps3, I'm sure it will make the game that much more technically superior. The thing is, though, that Mass Effect has sold millions on the 360, so if anything, the multiplatform venture seems the most likely.
"Of course, the problem with that is you have to adjust for the lowest common denominator, aka developing for the DVD over BluRay, which in my opinion is just hurting the gaming industry"
Each console have there strengths and weaknesses. The lowest common denominator is not exclusive to one console, but spread amoungst them for multi-format development.
For example, the PS3 has less ram available for games compared to the 360 (currently 40MB less than the 360), which has caused problems for many developers when porting to the PS3.
Hence in this instance, the PS3 is the lowest common denominator.
Therefore it's a gross exaggeration to state that DVD is hurting the games industry when it actually has it's plus points (i..e it's faster than Blu-ray), and it's minus of less capacity can be overcome in most cases by multiple discs and/or more efficient compression.
"If they do happen to put it exclusively on the Ps3, I'm sure it will make the game that much more technically superior."
It will be much the same except minor improvements, where such improvements are mostly due to more time in developement (like Oblivion on the PS3 which was released 1 year after the 360 version).
Mass Effect is actually only 5.86 GB. Bioware didn't even use up the full size of a DVD disc.
I wish i had a job where i got paid for predicting the future based on ... oh wait ... there is no basis. Yeah i want this dude's job.
has really suffered this year. This game will not come to the PS3; unless Sony wants to pay MS.
They don't need to. BioWare owns the IP, not Microsoft.
MS owns the publishing rights.
