Ó

Fan-made Halo movie poster - Image 1Back in October, we shared with you the not-so-good news that the Halo movie was put on hold after it failed to seal a movie franchise deal with 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures. After this development, not much has been said about the planned movie which is supposed to be directed by Neill Blomkamp (who directed Alive in Joburg). But recently, Peter Jackson (the movie's would-be producer) talked to Stuff website about it.

Jackson believes that since Halo 3 is going to be released later this year, 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures would again be interested with the movie project. If that's the case, then Halo 3 sure does have a lot of weight on its shoulders since analysts also believe that the game's sales performance would bring Microsoft's Xbox Division out of constant losses.

The Lord of the Rings director also said that he and partner Fran Walsh will only choose to be involved with the Halo movie project if Blomkamp would be the guy calling the shots. Jackson said, "We wouldn't want to do it with anybody else. It'll be Neill's call".

Well, that's all we have for now but we'll surely give you updates about this as soon as we get more info. For now, you're free to speculate if the movie would push through or be forever shelved.

I hope this is the worst movie close to doom movie and maybe street fighter/hulk. In this movie the main character is either gay, alien, and robot. how can this movie come out in 2007. gorge lucas can make better star wars movies than a lame halo. millions of lost dollars. A.I and I Robot sucked so much. i rather watch alien the movie now that is a better scifi movie and much scarier. the halo monster are midgets and stupid it reminds me of double dragon movie, stupidity characters. peter jackson can make something better than that lame franchise how about duke nukem. i rather watch the new indy 4, sin city, evil dead

Imagine if Joss Whedon Directed it, and had a big say in the dialog. That is just my opinion though, Big Joss Whedon fan.

» yeah yeah... another vin diesel stupid movie?

This game was good, but do you really think the movie will? lol! I mean, in an FPS game, not seeing the face of the main character is cool, since we are him, but in a movie, LOL! So the movie won't be story or emotion based (dah!), but it will only be action action action... so boring... Like scharzeneger movies (sorry if I didn't write it the right way), where you have a big muscle guy (not car) who beat big muscled ennemies (this time, big monsters, it's almnost the same). The movie will surely be nothing good... I mean, if you wanna do a combat action movie, you need cool stuf à la 300 (the movie was awesome), not thing à la terminator without a face and without a story.... (the halo story cannot be used for a complete 2hours movie, so they will surely make a shorter movie, or put a LOT a mindless battles.

Anyway, I won't see the movie... not my kind of movies!

Thats funny because most ppl I talk to think the halo 2 story was weak.

   Re: rawr (Unregistered) - 2007-05-28
 » Right

Because most people you talk to are story-telling geniuses, right? Fact is, the Halo 2 story itself was great, but the presentation and pacing were poor. Hopefully Bungie realized what they did wrong and remedied it for Halo 3

 » solution to crappy story?

I actually haven't read the books, but if they have enough drama and crap maybe Peter should follow those. Hope it comes out tho, it'd be interesting even if it sucks lol

 » Halo Movie = Prequel

If you have read the HALO books you will see there is certainly enough depth to create multiple HALO movies. I hope that HALO 3's success gets the movie developers interested. The Halo movie can easily be a prequel to the first game. Where we learn about the entire process and what was involved with their training as a group.

» most game based movies suck...

i am sure this movie will do 100% great at the box office, but i belive critics wont give it great ratings, just because they look real deep into the movie...history, story, characters, voicing, actions, real life reactions, music, sounds, climax, and how it starts to how it ends...its very rare for a movie to achieve all these things, unless its the SAW series...lol
