Finally stepping up to the plate in defense of video games is Electronic Arts exec Peter Moore -- and to Mr. President, Barack Obama himself, no less! After recommending that kids should play out in the sunshine more rather than play videogames indoor, in his speech to the American Medical Association, Obama has now been challenged by Moore to get into a 30-Day Challenge. Not just any challenge, of course. It's an EA challenge, predictably so. Taking to his official blog, Moore can be quoted as saying: As a father of three and someone who spends many a morning or lunch hour out on a run and/or in the gym, I applaud the President urging Americans to get off the couch and get active. Of course, I can’t resist pointing out that while I’ve always wholeheartedly endorsed moderation in anything you do, including playing games, it may be time for the President and his family to put their Wii to good use and fire up the 30-Day Challenge with EA SPORTS Active. This is a “game” even the President may not want to “step away” from. In fact, I know [Obama is] in pretty good shape, but I guarantee the President wouldn’t look quite so smooth walking across the White House lawn to Marine One the morning after his first session with EA SPORTS Active (especially if he does those pesky lunges)! ... Mr. President, here is my challenge to you: Try EA SPORTS Active and I guarantee you’ll need aides saying “Yes You Can!” to finish your first workout. As I said in my quicknote in this week's 77th issue of the QuickJump QuickPeek, with the advent of motion controls for our consoles, being couch potatoes are soon to be a thing of the lazy past. So you want your kids to be more active? Now they're gonna go flailing about in your living room playing them motion control video games. I say be ready to get a bigger living room, moms and dads. See, be careful what you wish for. You just might get it. Related Articles:

I'm skinny and i can promise you i'll be skinny. I'm not a huge fan of motion but i do like playstations where it seems like you can just kind of do whatever.
I like games where i can pass out with it going
it's about being active.
weight gain is not the only negative effect of being sedentary (oh noes! i used a big word!).
i'm not an advocate of motion controllers or anything, i for one am too tired to jump around and swing my arms after a day of work...
this article nearly made me sick.... it sounds like peter moore is fscking advertising sht to the president. sigh....
That's all I was getting out of it too.
Looks like we're on the same page here.
It should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that public statements are meant to push political agendas as well as press things into the faces of the public. He's using this public statement to put his product on the minds of all the people who read them. If you honestly thought it was supposed to be some sort of challenge for the president then you've got a bit to learn about...politics? No I guess this would fall under business/advertising more than that lol.
which is which? who's kiba and who's yugi?
this just smells like advertising....
if he wanted to release a real statement why didnt he just tell that ***** to mind his own *****1n business?
i bet that would sell even more EA games.
ever heard of the sun? thats the reason to go outside because its good for you, last thing i new the wii wasnt powerful enough to give off sun rays lol
I agree, this one isn't strong enough to give you some skin cancer so I don't want it D:
That's EA for you.
just wait natal mr presedent :)
Yo are better off staying in and working out with your game system than in the cancerous sunlight.
I also challenge Obama to play a crappy Wii game.
I bet he can't do it!
And what does this have to do with PSP news again ??
Look, I'm too old and broke down for action/motion anything. My oldest works his ass off as a life guard, so if he wants to vegetate in his room after a 12 hour day, I say, "go for it."
My youngest is skinnier than a stick and slithers in & out of his seat in front of the computer. He needs a job mowing lawns or something.
Facts are, when an adult states that they want the kids to get off their asses and get outside? That really means get GTF out of the house, period.
Exercise or not, I don't want to listen or see any 'racket' that isn't of my own doing. If my kids want to make noise and bounce around like idiots, then sound proof your room and pay some rent.
