Ó

Now that a bit more info is released for LucasArts' offering for next gen consoles, the Star Wars geeks among you are probably thirsty for a bit more info on the game. While we don't have any more gameplay details, or concept art to offer to you folks, we did manage to find a few Tech Demo videos showing off the physics engine in Star Wars: Force Unleashed.

Now just why does the physics engine matter so much to this game? Well take a second look at this old old "Force Power" pre-viz. Notice how force powers in the game are more similar to Gendy Tartakovsky's animated mini-special Star Wars: Clone Wars.

» this game will be so cool

i wonder if the PS3 will have better physics? or if it will have better framerates? somthing i would think, would have to be better on a system that can run heavy physics running a game that uses heavy physics

No, the ps3 would overheat and crash before it could do anything cool. Besides it isnt better than the 360, just differantly designed.

 » Why??

And why would it be better on ps3???? I know because its heaps easier to program on, or because its capable of producing a magic signal that means T.Vs ignore their 60hz restraints and think ***** it lets run this quicker just because sony said the console is better!!!

I like the wood video. It's cool seeing the 2nd wood react to all of the Artoo's hitting it. It's also cool seeing it go harder, and it becomes more of a bounce-back wrather then a breakable. Very nice Lucas...Very nice.

» This tech will be most heavily used on computers

Dude its slowing down on their own computers. Most likely these physics engines will be downscaled for consoles and only owners of truely high end PCs will get to have all the physics running at once.

A High end Computer, not console, will be the only thing able to handle all this tech running at once.

 » Considering...

Most PC's aren't up to par with the PS3 or 360, that's understandable (show me some 3-6 core pc's) and also the fact that this is in VERY EARLY stages of development, I think this will all translate to 360 + PS3 fine.

On the note of the game, looks sweet, looks like they want everything in the environment to be destructible, and stormtroopers to automatically grab at anything....I love the way to wood reacts too, wonder if they have a system for steel, glass, plaster, etc....

Cant' wait, but goin to have to....

 » are you all serious?

the graphics looks like the fmv out of some early 90's prerendered PC title! URGH!!!!

and the physics? the movement is slow.. and way too smooth, like floaty hollow people with no presence...

URGHHHHH!!

horrible.

   Re: Shatterdome - 2007-02-15
 » Well...

The first vid is CG that "is representative of final gameplay". Almost all ragdolls look like...well ragdolls, it's going to be awhile off until ragdolls also have realistically behaving muscles and tendons. Mainly it's the environment interaction that looks super cool.

Thats all I got. sorry

Oh by the way PC graphics always look...PC..ya know.
Just not realistic. Pc graphics always look a little funny and unrealistic.
