It's time recognise those developers that really helped make this year something special for all of us gamers. A lot of hard work, sweat, dedication and long hours go into making the games we play, so here are a few words from us at QJ to say thanks, and keep up the good work.
Here are the folks each of our editors have singled out as the best developers of the year. Gino D: Developer of the Year: Criterion Games Continued support with *free* Burnout Paradise DLC, 'nuff said. Isaac C: Developer of the Year: Rockstar Games Rockstar can do no wrong *tries not to think of Manhunt 2 in trash* Mabie A: Developer of the Year: Media Molecule Thanks for LittleBigPlanet. Glenn M: Developer of the Year: Media Molecule LBP. 'Nuff said. Chris C: Developer of the Year: Criterion Games Burnout Paradise is a model for what this generation of games should aspire to be. It's polished to a sheen, it's a huge chunk of game, and over the course of the year Criterion saw it fit to gift gamers with major additions that expanded the game and kept it fresh... for free. Thanks guys. So... who makes your list? |

DA would have to be the number one Dev for the last 3 years. Cant say enough good things about his work. :)

Capcom. Those guys have been on a roll since the begining of this year, pushing awesome title after another on every platform!
Bionic Commando, Megaman 9, Street Fighter II, 1942...the list goes on!
But yeah, Media Molecule did a great job as well.

I also loved it. I finished it on PSP about 5 times, PS2 1 time, Wii half way through and waiting for other platforms to get released.
Absolutely loved it. nearly the best game out this year. Well, I think its the most fun.

All the developers that Sony published. I know it's old but I've played their game almost all year so here's to Infinity Ward(thanks for CoD4). 360 modders and DAX but.
Konami is the $h!t. Thanks for MGS4. That was the first midnight opening I've ever been to.

I totally forgot the Developers of Dead Space and Dice(Mirrors Edge). I guess EA should deserve thanks for publishing the games.

Probably R*,
GTA IV was such a technical achievement, which brilliantly showed GTA at its best. Oh course, closely followed my Media Molecule, need I mention why? :D
And as hakk3r said, let's give credit to the hard work Dark_AleX has this year; I'm off to play Pokemon Silver on my PSP lol. Merry Christmas guys, and thanks QJ, I'm liking these end-of-year articles. Keep up the good work!

I would have to say either Rockstar or Capcom. They made two favorites of mine, GTA IV and Dead Rising. I can't decide who is better though.

someone who mentions something false gets 5-starred and then the person who simply corrects them with true facts gets 0-starred.
you guys are worse than the biased youtube liberals.

volition for the much improved saints row 2 (sorry, to me gta4 was just more of the same)
bioware for the mass effect DLC, and the announcement of SW:TOR...

Little Big Planet from Media Molecule is just awesome. Love the game and the developers did an awesome job on it.
On the Homebrew side of things I'd have to say the DX64 team, but I'm a bit biased there. :P

you have to see all the companies ppl and then choose.
cant you see companies like Square Enix i dont like the RBG games a lot but hell yeah a company like this should be thanked for their games, its the only AND THE ONLY company this days that dont make crappy games for quick profit, if they make games they make it so damn good that you wont leave the game until you f*** up your consle or Handheld to be more specific but i'm so angry that no one have mention them
(sorry for the language and the spelling too :-p )

Media Molecule, for sure..... but I think everyone is overlooking Q-Games/PixelJunk. I've done a lot of gaming this year, but I don't think that I can name two (2) games from the same publisher that have sucked-up so much of my time as Monsters and Eden.
These games defined simplicity, skill, and outside-the-box thinking in a heavy one-two punch that soaked hours of my life for the first month or two after purchasing.

I wouldn't say any of them. I don't think any studio deserves a Dev of the year award for 1 game, no matter how good. If that was the case I'd say Valve for L4D.
I'd say Nintendo R&D for Kart and Brawl. My 2 most played console games this year.

Or maybe Valve for their continued support for TF2, possibly the most fun FPS ever. New weapons, new maps, new modes. All for a game that costs £9 normally.
