Microsoft's sources of pride: the Xbox 360 and Zune - Image 1

It sure looks like Microsoft is hell-bent on making its online content provider the best there is around. If this rumor proves true, then Microsoft will be having a music download service for its Xbox 360.

According to Xbox Evolved, a Microsoft source has claimed that there will be "a kind of Zune Marketplace on the Xbox 360." Well that would make a whole lot of sense, right? Microsoft would be catering to a wider scope of their markets, both the Xbox 360 owners, plus the Zune owners.

Supposedly, you would have to subscribe in order to avail of the service. The estimate for now is that the monthly fee will cost you U$ 15, while you'll have to shell out US$ 45 for three months of service. Further explains the source, "While the prices seem steep, keep in mind that you are getting unlimited access to the entire collection of music offered to Zune users."

Yes, the heat is indeed on, and obviously, it's not only in the kitchen of next-gen consoles, but even in the arena of digital music players. As of yet, we have not received any official word from Microsoft on this, so just keep it posted here for more.

 » HOOTTTTTT FIIIIIYYYYYAAAA!!!!

they have to do this, its such a fantastic idea and keep each song at 80 points(1US $)

all they would need then is an OPTIONAL web browser and the 360 would be unstoppable.

 » Cool, but don't care

I will never pay $1 for one song, I don't download from current music services and I won't from XBL, it's just too easy to get them off LimeWire and there is virtually no chance of punishment

 » what a rip off

$45 for 3 months service! They should just run this off their point scheme instead of a monthly payment.
