Harmonix has just released a patch for Rock Band 2's Xbox 360 version that adds support for wireless mics, background downloading, and an audition mode for Rock Band Network, among other things. A PS3 version of the patch is now undergoing the certification process and will be out ASAP. There's no word yet on a Wii patch, however. Here are the patch notes:

I haven't played Beatles. What's different about the chord hammer on/pull off's? As it is in rb2, I never hammer on chords, 'cuz it's easier to just strum them, but if the patch makes it work better, that might be cool.
What I'm really hoping is that when rb3 comes out, we'll be able to port all the songs from rb1 and 2 to it. It's gotta' be a huge disapointment for gh fans that they can't port theirs, and it's the main reason I won't be buying any gh games any time soon.

I own rockband 1/2 guitar hero 3/4/5 and guitar hero 5 does let you bring guitar hero 4 songs into the game, just all the stupid (easy) ones. In my opinion it is bad to hate on either of them, both have strong points. Rockband 2 excels over guitar hero in online connectivity and structure, but the general ingame playability (charts) and the ability to use multiples of the same instruments at a time (4 drummers, 4 guitarists, etc.) makes guitar hero 5 quite fun :D.

funny, i was just thinking a few days ago that it could have been better to see all the stars for each song, like how many stars you got on them and if they are already in gold stars, and now this patch made it comes true.. thank you harmonix.. youre really the best!!.. thats why i love rb and not gh..
about the HOPO thing, i didnt notice any difference between rb2 and tb:rb hammer ons and pull offs.. hmm.. oh, well as long as it makes rb2 more awesomerrrrrrrr than it was then its no biggie at all..

Wow, HMX actually listened to the community, but it's no surprise.
I own Beatles RB, and the way it handles the chord HOPOs seemed to be the same, although it just felt like it had better hit detection. I don't know much technical about the chord HOPOs beyond that though.
Finally being able to see stars on the song browser = FTW.

Star Sorting is nice.
One thing I have a problem with though is in RB2, the drum fills are too quiet, it just needs a volume boost.
