no way. it would interfer with the hd dvd launch
"We think we could all agree that as of now, our consoles are brimming full with game demos."
No. You delete the *****ing demos you've beaten, or go buy the game dipstick.
Its only logical that hd movies would not be downloaded throught xbox live. A dvd maybe but a hd dvd, do you how big those files will be. And there would have to be a bigger hard drive that would have to come out. Be we never know anything can happen. Maybe if Microsoft makes the videos thru a way of streaming that could happen.

what if Microsoft makes it that if we buy a hvdvd drive for the 360 that they have the option, but that wouldnt make sense to make the hd dvd drive
This was microsofts plan all along, the main reason for not including an HD player in the system in the first place (among other reasons). The HD-DVD add-on was something they did just so they could say the 360 has the ability to play HD-DVD's.
Because of MS my local provider (shaw) has given "Xtreme" users a 100 gig a month limit. Even though that is alot, it's still only 4-5 HD movies, and yeah, where do I put them ? As it stands a fresh HD can't fit an HD movie on it, or barely could.
It'd be nice though if they did do this, releseased a whole series of HDD's from 60-300 gig and then made a deal with Shaw so we could go up to 150-200 gigs a month...no doubt a "you download too much" package or something....
If they do this, then the movies will only be allowed to be stored on the Xbox360 Hard Drive so it can be controlled.
Also Downloading HD Movies will be a significant stress on the bandwidth. So they will probably cost a bit more then people think. Alot of HD-DVD movies in 720p are well above 7GB for 90 minutes.
So in reality, Microsoft servers will be overloaded if this was an option.
Then you would need to buy the 100GB drive if you wanted to store multiple movies, trailors, game demos, game files.
Its just not practical at this time to offer HD movies as a downloadable item.
When I use media center to record TV, One episode of Jay Leno (one hour) takes up 8gb. I guess they could compress the hell out of a 90min HD Movie. Personally I'd rather just buy the movie and play it on the HD-DVD Drive.
Maybe this has something to do with DirecTV. If you all remember back around the launch of the 360. There was an announcement about MS teaming up the DirecTV back in like January or February...
don't remember?
This may help....

is if you could shop for HD DVD movies on the market place and have them shipped to you, possibly buy games directly from the market place after you play the demo, if you have a credit card and save the wait in line all night when a game like halo 3 or gears of war comes out but then again some people have to have some reason to leave the house.
$4 is pretty steep if you can only watch the movie once. Also, this wouldn't fly to well with the hd being so small, however it would be perfect to make others shell out the dough for a larger hd if it's released. If they can make it were the movie will stay for a while, can be watched multiple times, and wouldn't fill the whole hd, it could work.
Actually, it would most likely be an unlimited replays for 24/48/72 hours dealie. They could possibly even do 24 Hours as a standard deal (Like NTL does in the UK right now), and then add an extra $1 or $2 for every extra day you want it.
If its OK for Sony to say the PS4 would unlikely have an optical disc drive (why do we care about Blu-Ray then?), why cant the 360 have downloadable movies? Hard Drive space aside Marketplace has full episodes of Battlestar and Viva, commercials, music videos, and ofcourse games. Movies -should- be next.
(M$ could easily release a larger HD, but I'm betting on software to reduce file size of HD movies for quicker downloading and storage space)
This has already happend with music, games and movies are next.
