We've got some rumors flying about right now about Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, like the alleged Newton motion-sensing controller, but some others are squashed immediately right after they are launched into the Internet. One such rumor is the production of slimmer Xbox 360 units, which will house the new Valhalla chipsets.

Whispers about the Xbox 360 Slim had circulated the gossip mill only recently, but it was almost instantaneously crushed when a Microsoft representative said, "while we don't normally comment on rumors like this, we can tell you that we have no plans to release a new console in 2009."

Of course, taking into account the recurring tendency of industry figures denying "rumors" until they are officially unveiled, it won't harm anybody to keep a window open in anticipation of the newer, slimmer Xbox 360. More updates as they come!
